Product Claims 1 ct, RS232 DB9 connector adapter to USB 2.0 I received a slightly different version of what was presented in the product description, which was a hard single-chassis adapter without a cable. What I received was a female DB9 connector attached with 89 inches of cable to a USB female connector. I haven't yet checked the software / driver compatibility for installation; what is clear from a quick read through the instruction manual is that if your system doesn't recognize this out of the box, then you have some driver download and updating to do, which requires internet access and access to their website. (So using this on a disconnected and/or standalone piece of equipment may be difficult to do.) The material and construction seem to be of good quality, and the price can't be argued with (presuming it works). As a first look, and given the difference in physical appearance between what was presented versus what was delivered, I'm going to give this one a cautious 4 stars, until such time as I can complete the process of installation on a suitable system.

A much needed device to initially config Dell PowerConnect switches. At a price no one can beat, and available rather quickly at that.

I am an embedded system software developer and needed this cable to communicate to the target device for debug purposes. For some strange reason, this cable only receives and doesn’t send so I am unable to interact with the OS terminal. This is also my second one and was an exchange for the first one I got with the same exact issue. I figured it was just defective and did an exchange. The replacement arrived on Sunday and I tested on Monday - only to find out that it had the same issue. I will be returning this one too, but this time I’m getting my money back. Not trying a third time. BUYER BEWARE!! THESE DO NOT WORK!!

I used this on an ASRock N100DC-ITX motherboard. It identifies as a FTDI device and works perfectly with Android.
