Ideal for PoE Camera Projects – No Extra Power Needed
I’ve been using the TP-Link TL-SG1005P-PD switch when adding security cameras, and it’s been a total game-changer. Since it’s PoE-powered, there’s no need to run 110V to each location—just a single Ethernet cable supplies both data and power. That makes installs cleaner, faster, and much more flexible. It’s completely plug-and-play, super reliable, and the fanless design means it runs silently, which is great for indoor use. I also appreciate the PoE passthrough capabilities—perfect for chaining devices where outlets are limited. Overall, this switch is rock-solid and a great value for small PoE camera setups. I plan to continue to grow my TP-Link Omada network using these, as well as the larger rack mount switches.

Works great but I wish it came with more ports.
I got a couple of these and a PoE injector to power it so I didn't have to have a UPS in my network "closet" but they would function when power is out. These items take almost no power so you can daisy chain them to get more ports. My home network is super fast so I don't have any complaints about their functionality. And they have "keyholes" on the back so I could mount them to the wall with screws. That said, I wish they had an 8-port model. I have a regular 8-port switch and it takes all of a half watt of power, so one _could_ easily make a PoE passthrough switch with 8 ports. With only five ports, you have to daisy chain them and then each hub only nets three ports since one has to be connected upstream and one downstream in the chain.

Useful switch, POE works but I needed to use a higher power port than specified
POE feature: I wanted to use this as a dumb switch using POE power but the devices I'm connecting to it don't use POE - so I don't care about passthrough. The listing shows that its minimal power setting should work on a 15W port and even provide a 9W output budget. However I couldn't get it to work reliably on a regular 15W POE switch port - it worked when plugged into the switch directly but not at the remote location. Then I changed it to a 60W port (same wiring) and it works fine. My switch tells me it averages 1.8W draw on average after starting up. I wonder if my trouble with the 15W port was due to it using more on startup, along with loss in my wiring. Switching: everything that's plugged into it has been behaving normally so I am happy on this front. Minus one star due to the POE trouble.

POE pass thru powered 5-port switch
Used it to power 4 ethernet connected POE security cameras. I connected a power injector in my home office to my UPS and mounted the switch where all the camera cables came together on another floor of the house. Very clean installation because the switch and the cameras don't need any outlets and everything is powered by the uninterruptable power supply in the office. If I had used wifi cameras I would have avoided the cables but would require an outlet nearby the cameras and they wouldn't have the support of the UPS. This switch makes it all very clean and reliable.

Perfect solution for me!
I have a utility box where all the ethernet cables that run through my house to individual rooms dead-end but there's no power source nearby to power an ethernet switch. I purchased a TP-Link PoE injector along with this PoE switch to run the now-powered ethernet cable from the router to this switch in that utility box so I can have no-loss high-speed ethernet in all those rooms. Any other way would've required an electrician along with Stucco and Drywall repairs.

i use this to aid in power transfer to my poe+ access point and for wired ethernet connect to a non poe+ device. this switch receives from an ethernet cable powered by a poe+ injector. i haven't had any issues since its installation about three weeks ago. i was hesitant about connecting a non-poe device to it but it worked fine. the led indicator for ethernet/network connection illuminated while the indicator for poe for this output slot remained off. it is also nice that it has slots for wall mounting which i needed to hang it. i hope it last a long time

Works as expected. Added to my Omada home network setup. Here's how it's set up: ER7212PC PoE → EAP615-Wall PoE passthrough → this TL-SG1005P-PD → PoE splitters powering my Hue Bridge and Lutron Hub Bummer that it's not managed so I can't tag specific ports with VLANs but it's a great PoE powered switch and nice addition to my network!

Perfect way to power PoE devices from a PoE uplink. No need to have external power at location where you use this switch.

I would give 0 stars if I could. This switch died on me twice. The first one is DoA. The second dies after 1 month of using. No lights up. I will never use TP link product ever again
