Sweet story, amazing illustrations
My son loves this book. The story is short and sweet. The illustrations are ANAZING. I thought it was a sweet story about a little boy’s imaginary dragon. I understand some parents’ concern about the little boy blaming the dragon for the things he’s doing, however, 1) The boy gets in trouble for these things, 2) By the end, he effectively puts his dragon (ie his “acting out” self) in time out until “he can learn some manners,” and 3) My 4 year old picked up right away that the boy was also being naughty, and he’s telling fibs by blaming it all on the dragon. He didn’t get the message from this that it’s okay to act out. If anything, he gleaned the opposite. So I suppose it depends on the individual kid, as well as the parent’s personal taste re: how strict you are with what your child is allowed to read about. If you feel any depiction of “naughty” behavior (such as sneaking brownies and blowing bubbles in your lemonade) is going to cause your child to act out, then I suppose this book isn’t for you.

creative and cute
I love stories about kids just being kids and living in their magical world of imagination. And sometimes it cab tough when adults don’t believe in them. This dragon is sweet and a little mischievous. Read this book with your children and they will giggle. And then… Be aware. They might get a dragon too.

A book you will love just as much as your kiddos
My mom purchased this book for my boys that I just had to get on the kindle. The art is fantastic and my kids love the imagination behind a little boys day at the beach. When a Dragon Moves in is a tale about a family outing at the beach in which a little boy builds a sandcastle and through the use of imagination a dragon moves in causing all kinds of ruckus. When in fact it's the little boy causing trouble but using his imagination that the dragon is the one causing all the trouble. The artwork is phenomenal and the story is outstanding where children's using their imagination is the most important thing at their young age. I can't wait to pick up the next story in this series When a Dragon Moves in Again but we're gonna wait until Christmas. Great read for a bedtime story.

The pacing of the story is bouncy quick. The meaning behind the story, however, is everlasting. While the target audience of the book is children ages 3 through 7, the lesson learned from the story will apply to the grownups that read the story to their little ones—Take time to travel through the world of imagination with the children in your life. Who knows—even you might find a dragon at your doorstep.
