I can't figure it out and I have electronics that I operate just fine.
I have to leave an honest review. I wouldn't want someone leaving me a review with glorious compliments that were lies. I love this recorder. I finally figured out how to make it produce sound for a minute.. I have sat with the manual for literally hours trying to figure it out. I have followed the instructions step by step and received no results. The company has been more than fair with me and I don't want to leave them a bad review, but I have to be honest too. The reason I spent so much time trying to understand it, is because I do like the looks, etc. But if you can't make it work what good is it. I read those other reviews and find them suspect. I am not new to electronics. I always thought that I could figure anything out, which I have up to this point. I am really disappointed, I want it to work. In an email the company said that there was a tutorial on YouTube. I though GREAT! I went to it and it is a japanese person with a thick accent. So a lot of good that was. I could only understand about every 4th word. I wish they would find and American person to explain it. I am not being racist, just real. Anyway after my 2 hour session today, and the tutorial, I think that I am done. Go to YouTube TOOBOM and see if it helps you BEFORE you buy it. I really wish I could have made it work, it sounds like a really cool recorder, but I couldn't make it work.

If you want an awesome voice recorder with amazing FM radio, this MIGHT be the one!
I owned a Sony Voice recorder with FM radio--it was an is amazing. So is this one, except somehow I was led to believe it does auto or timer recording--in other words that it could begin taping for you at a certain time. Apparently it does not, or they left that part out of the manual. Nothing anywhere in it about future recording, which is why I bought this...to tape a weekly late night radio show (Midnight Sunday) so I could sleep and listen later. But there is a learning curve but it does equate nicely with the Sony (in my opinion) while being much--as much as 75% cheaper--than the Sony. So four outta five stars, despite my sending it back. It takes about an hour or so to program your favorite stations or let it auto program (but likely miss some.) Anyway, thank you for the opportunity and best regards to the seller and Amazon customers!

This feels solidly made and I am happy with the quality of recordings
This feels solidly made and I am happy with the quality of recordings. I like how it records directly to mp3 and interfaces easily with my computers using both Windows and Linux. I bought the 16 gig because I was hoping to use it as an mp3 player. My problem is that I need to be able organize and play my recordings by folders, (not artist/album), which the mp3 section doesn't seem to recognize.

Not for large hands
The menu is confusing at first but with practice it becomes understandable, but not easier.Too many layers to work thru to get to the desired place for setup. My main issue is the small size of the unit. Please read the physical description closely before buying. This was bought to replace a cassette recorder that finally died.I also use a Sony PCM-M10 for music work so I am familiar with handheld digital recorders.

Figuring out how to use it. Lots of practice
Kind of a pain to figure out how to use. I definitely would not recommend this for people like my dad that aren't as comfortable with using today's technology. Sound quality is good as long as you're close enough (closer than 10 feet) to pick up the voice your recording. Haven't tried it for instruments yet but I think the recorder would have to be a bit further away from the instrument to keep the vibrations being overpowerin.

If you want better clarity, I will invest in a more advanced ...
Read the instructions well. A bit tricky, as it wants to record and save file EVERYTIME I turn it on. I give this a 4/5 on price, size, and sound quality for the price. If you want better clarity, I will invest in a more advanced design.

Cold small metal device. I just prefer the handheld Sony one instead.
I really did not like the cold cheap metal it's made of. It turned me instantly away from it so I returned the item. The return experience was very good and just quickly refunded. It's also very small and I wanted something easy to hold so I went with a plastic Sony one about the same cost.
