Q: Will this dock support a raid if we have a onboard raid controller? What is the dock GB/drive limitations?

if the raid controller has individual sata outputs, it will work with anything. there is no processing/hardware in the dock it self, it merely passes the signal through, so there is not drive limitation

Q: Hdd "power" lights: (a) always on= 'bay' has power even if no disks exist; (b) or each disk "power" light turns off when no disk exists per bay slot?

It's per bay green/orange for disk present/activity and if no disk, its blank.

Q: What is the largest drive it supports? As in 4tb? 8tb?

This is a pass through, so it should be able to support up to the drive size limit support of either your motherboard or operating system.

Q: What do i need to run this from my desktop pc?

This is ment to be sitting inside 3 DVD size slots on your computer. So your case must have those slots. Second you will need to have 5 free sata connections cables. Third you will need to have 5 sata power connections or some splitters. Operationally it works like 5 extra hard drives connected to your system. Do with them what you will.
