Not the best product
The quality of the product is not good. It is not easy to use or clean at all as it has screws and nuts to keep plates study.. The size is small.

you get what you pay for, but not bad
This is a classic example of getting what you pay for. There is absolutely nothing functionally wrong with this stand, and I have had consistently great success using it for its intended purpose. However, you can tell that it is a cobbled-together, and not intentionally engineered product. Most of the individual pieces are readily obtainable from your friendly local hardware store. In a way, this is an advantage because if something gets rusty or covered in schmutz you can always go replace it. The other side is that nothing fits together perfectly and the whole thing is a little wobbly. You should also do yourself a favor and drill a hole in the side of the truncated cone at the bottom that keeps it lifted above the water level. It likes to jiggle a little as water and vapor pressure build inside of that thing. Most of the more expensive ones already have done this "mod."The thing I both like and don't like about this particular model is that they have drilled some ventillation holes in the bottoms of the depressions. This allows the idly to steam more consistently and they take less time to cook. However, they were obviously drilled with a drill press and they are sharp on the bottom and catch on the sponge as you're cleaning them (and skin if you're not careful). Filing them down is easy but tedious. I have noticed that there's not much I can do about at least SOME of the batter dripping through the bottoms of the holes before it sets, but this is generally miniscule. It makes fillling them a bit messy though.Overall if you're looking for an economical option, this is the one for you. I happened to have an Ikea 365 steamer pot that was absolutely perfect for this, almost like it was made for the purpose. Item 17684 as marked on the bottom; I think it's been discontinued but I found it at a thrift shop.
