This works perfectly! I hung two regular pendant lights (with heavy glass shades) for recessed light cans.Follow the directions and mount them to the cans (not can trim, can trim sleeves need to be removed). They are sturdy. Drill and mount as directed. I did place beauty madaliion under last bracket against cieling before mounting light. This allowed me to control centering of medallion better and got it out of the way when mounting pendant light fixture. Always be safe by shutting off power before working and turning it back on when completed (circuit breaker, not light switch) .Great price, great product. I could hang an even more heavy light fixture from this adapter.They cost much less than purchasing similar product from Home Depot or Lowe's.My wife is happy now with her new lights!

These are great kits that make converting a recessed light to a pendant style an easy-breezy endeavor. The construction quality is much better than I expected, especially in regards to the plastic trim piece that is sturdy and non-flexing, and they are ETL listed. Although the kit is designed to install directly into the existing fixture with the socket adapter, I prefer to hardwire when I can, and it really is not any more difficult to do so. It’s also better to remove the old fixture to make sure that the screws are going into the metal can when installing the mounting bracket, which is where they need to be in order to provide proper support for the new fixture. I did encounter a couple of issues, with the first being that the canopy mounting screws for my new lights are on the side and were blocked by the trim piece, but I solved that problem by going in at an angle with some sheet metal screws. The other problem was that the trim piece was not fitting snug to the ceiling like it should, but that was an easy fix by using a small piece of cardboard to shim between the mounting bracket and bottom of the trim to push it up against the ceiling. I thought the canopy would cover the cardboard, but a little bit peeks out (see picture), so make sure the color of your shim matches to hide it. If painting to match is desired as I did, I recommend a light scuffing with a 220-grit sanding sponge for better adhesion.

I bought 2 open box versions of this item. The first one was difficult to install and the directs were hardly legible. The second one seemed more level and went right into place. The instructions were clearer on the second one. The decorative trim was kind of big and obnoxious. I will probably change the trim piece out later.

Can be a little hard to get the white ring to sit flat to the ceiling but hey, allows you to mount a hanging light to a can, can't beat that!

Upon opening this item it was obviously an item that had been previously returned to Amazon. Missing hardware, used wires and screws, cut wires, a hole had been drilled into the plastic. My husband made it work and the product does look/work ok.

I used this to install a motion detector light in a can light fixture. My wife constantly leaves the light on (which bothers my OCD to no end). I removed the wall switch from the mix, installed a blank plate on the wall, and voila! Motion detected ceiling fixture!!

Easy to install and perfect for my pendent light.

While I found out my lights were LED, so I did not need this system, but liked the idea. It will come in handy on renovation jobs!
