Hitchhiking with Prophets: A Ride Through the Salvation Story of the Old Testament

I have read each of Chad Bird's books, and enjoyed every one, especially this one! He makes the Old Testament prophets and their writings come alive with his unique writing style. I couldn't put this book down and will definitely re-read it, gift copies to friends, and highly recommend it! Chad's writing is a blessing to the readers! He has a God-given gift of written expression and clarity, always pointing us to our Savior and Friend, Jesus.

I bought the audiobook and listened to it straight through on my way home from vacation. What a wonderful journey Chad takes us on. He starts in Genesis and ends with Christ, along the way we chronologically meet the prophets and learn how God uses each one to tell the redemptive story that can only happen through the person and work of Christ. It was easy to read/listen to but with nuggets of theological gold mingled in. Definitely worth the time whether you are a new Christian or not.

I loved this book. Very engaging and fun to read trip through the Old Testament. A good review of Christs appearances throughout this ancient book. Will recommend heartily!

The other night I was having trouble winding down. So around 11pm I picked up a new book, thinking it would make me sleepy. Around 3am I forced myself to put it down and go to bed. It is a great fast introduction to and journey through the flawed Old Testament to the birth of the Christ. Chad L. Bird's "Hitchhiking with Prophets: A Ride Through the Salvation Story of the Old Testament" is a good read. It is a great reminder of how God works out his plan of salvation through flawed humanity. If you are new to reading the bible, it is also a great roadmap to understanding the Old Testament.

I purchased this book a few days ago after hearing some rave reviews before it was released. I am SO thankful that I did!! I just may have found a new favorite author, Chad Bird!!I was stoked to dive in and embark on this journey of Hitchhiking with the Prophets with my thumb in the air and riding shotgun with Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Isaiah on a road that leads us to the Promised One, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.This book is absolutely amazing thus far! I received it yesterday and can’t put it down. This is the first of Chad Bird’s books that I’ve read and I can tell you now that i will be getting many more of his books and also recommending this great book to as many as possible! Chad has a powerful gift with the pen (and with speaking, teaching, preaching. You should check out his podcasts on 1517.org). He writes in such a fun and enjoyable manor that captivates his readers Do yourself a favor and order this RIGHT NOW!! And while your at it you may as well get the entire Chad Bird catalog!!

Hitchhiking with the Prophets takes its readers on a journey of the Old Testament. I highly recommend this book. I own several books Mr. Bird wrote, which are a joy to read. His writing is beautiful and touching. Some of his books will cause you to cry, laugh, learn, and grow.

I am overwhelmed with God's love, His sovereignty and his mercy and grace! Although a teen in the 70s I never hitchhiked! So the title intrigued me and Chad delivered! So visual...his words paint pictures that are unforgettable. I can't wait to get this book in the hands of family and friends!

Chad Bird takes the reader through the Old Testament pointing out all the places that Jesus, the Messiah is portrayed.
