Hess 1999 Truck and Space Shuttle with Satellite

My great grandsons love Hess products, their trucks are their most treasured toys!

I purchased this truck for my son since I had one as a kid. I am blown away at how perfect and pristine this truck and box is 😊 it brought back all the good memories and definitely will stay in our family for many more years!

The condition was great. However it's electronics are fried and the Shuttle had batteries in it from 1999. No bueno.

I have been collecting Hess vehicles for some years and I wanted to add some older ones that I thought looked interesting. This one did not disappoint. I realize you’re taking a chance buying a “NEW” item that’s 20 years old. Anything that is advertised as including batteries could be a problem. The only battery included with my purchase was the one in the satelitte and it was in good condition. I like the fact that the satelitte automatically lights up and beeps when the arm extends from the launch bay. Very clever. All of the lights and functions on the truck and Space Shuttle worked properly with the exception of the bay doors on the Space Shuttle. They wouldn’t stay closed, however I was able to fix it. All-in-all, well worth the price.

After reading through some of the reviews for this vintage toy, originally released back in 1999, I was a little concerned that it might arrive with some sort of damage or something missing but I'm pleased to report that mine arrived in perfect condition from HESS-trucks including its original box, with no missing parts, and with all of its lights and sound working. I'm not a Hess truck collector but I remember giving this truck a look back in 1999 because of it including the Space shuttle. I'm not sure why I didn't buy it back then but I was very happy to find it on Amazon last week at a super low price. I was excited to get it and I plan to make it part of my annual home Christmas display going forward.

I ordered this truck for my grandson. He has a few of your trucks. This truck says it comes with 2 A76 batteries so I bought the c batteries and AA yet when I installed them only lights went on. I unscrewed the screw from the satellite and there was no batteries and there were no plastic strips where it said. I'm thinking someone returned this item and you resold. Not good. My grandson is not happy with his gift cause it does not work. Not happy with this item will be returning it I buy the A76 batteries and it doesn't work

My 3yr old grandson loves this truck and space shuttle. The doors on the shuttle and wings on the capsule come off very easily. The truck arrived with no batteries as advertised however the shuttle was still in original wrapping with tab and 21yr old batteries still intacked. The batteries were severely corroded. Once my husband cleaned the acid and trashed the batteries the shuttle still would not work. He did notice that it looked like the tip off one of the battery coils was damaged due to the corrosion so he cut the tip and the new batteries were able to make the connection, saving the shuttle. Once this was done all the lights and sounds worked and was a huge success.

My 3 year old grandson loves this truck and space shuttle. The satellite details and launching gear are a big plus. The truck and shuttle are sturdy for a 3 year old’s play. I am very happy with the buy.
