fun to read, beautifully illustrated quick journey to history of transport
*** Note: I received a review copy of this book from publishers via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. ***Lovvvedd that cover! Isn’t that beautiful?Crew of the Discovery Express, Nancy, the geographer and explorer and Pierre, the conductor are solving the clues left by missing Professor Pendleton- leader of the expedition crew and traveling across the world according to the clues he left behind. Visit places of the greatest inventions and learn the how inventor invented them. – Plane, train, car, hot-air balloon and many other related to travel. And help the crew to find missing scientist. This is time-travel children’s Fiction, a picture book that will take to the history of transport with lots of facts and mystery to solve on every page. This book was very creative and brilliant. I loved exploring each pages with amazing greatest inventions of the world right from Panama Canal, steam boats, trams to hot air balloon. The beginning of the book was the best in the book. Nancy, the geographer and explorer and Pierre, the conductor of Discovery Express, took us to the map room on Discovery Express where the inventions were shown on the map of the world with year, place, inventors and little facts on them. With the clues left at the end of each pages all the greatest inventions were introduced with all the details right from its idea to design, facts and figures, mechanism, and how it worked out during that time period with beautiful illustration with language that children of age 9 or more can understand. I simply loved all pictures in this book.Illustrator has done amazing job in this book.I loved that hot air balloon invention. The letter inventor wrote to his wife was funny. Details of Panama Canal was amazing to read. Oh and the first invention wheel was also narrated in detail. Many facts described in the book were even new to me. The book is best education material that I sure every school would like to teach through it. All the things were written in beautiful way with colorful pages keeping in mind that children enjoy reading each facts and also help them memorize them.My only concern with this book was, small text. I read PDF version and some text I couldn’t read even after zooming. I didn’t try magnifying glass as I don’t have one right now. But because of this issue I couldn’t read few facts written, specifically in last 2 or 3 pages, about airplane, bicycle, jet plane and submarines. So I just hope this drawback is solved in physical copy (it need to be Big copy with readable fonts).Overall, it was informative, fun to read, beautifully illustrated quick journey to history of transport. This book was perfect read you wish for your children.

Absorbing, fascinating information presented in an unusual way.
All Aboard the Discovery Express is an engrossing work containing lots of interesting information. I'm a little lost about the target audience for the book. The suggested range of 7-10 years is probably a good guideline, but I don't know how willing older kids will be to pick up a lift-the-flap book of under 50 pages, and I think younger kids might have a bit of trouble with the brief use of cursive and/or get discouraged by the challenging nature of some of the concepts. I got hung up on a few little details myself: I read the seat number as "04" instead of "D4," for instance, which made a big difference in how I interpreted the information. The wording in the explanation of the timetable code was a little confusing, requiring real concentration to sort out its meaning.A few details that probably make perfect sense to British children might require some explanation for American children. An August date appears as "5/8," for instance, which makes sense in the context but might not be something an American kid would instantly understand. Seeds are described as sycamore seeds but are the seeds of what Americans would apparently call a sycamore maple--and I only know that because I thought, "Those are maple seeds, not sycamore seeds," and looked it up. I'm not saying that the American way of handling or describing something is inherently the right way, but these little details might be stumbling blocks for kids if no explanation is provided to them.Overall, All Aboard the Discovery Express is an interesting, educational book that requires use of brainpower unless the reader cheats by turning the page without working for an answer (and the ability to do that might save younger readers the frustration of being utterly stumped). There's a lot to learn about transportation, and the short summaries might stimulate readers to research concepts in more depth on their own.The ending leaves the possibility of the book becoming a series wide open, so fans of the book might have something to look forward to.

All Aboard The Discovery Express is a keepsake for all ages
This is an amazing discovery-filled adventure book with some very cool features. One of the most outstanding features of the book is the beautifully detailed drawings throughout which really helps kids feel immersed in the reading. My little son is only 18 months old and he has had a blast looking through the pictures and opening the flaps found on every page to find new discoveries. The actual content of the book is clearly for older children and would be more appropriate for elementary school-aged children rather than toddlers. The book takes you on a journey through a wide variety of inventions in regards to the transportation industry. For example, our favorite invention was this submarine that a Russian created for Czar back in the 18th century! It has the amazing picture of a giant wooden boat floating under the water which was really cool. The amount of information is another great feature. You will actually learn a lot reading this book. There is a lot of information the average adult does not know unless they are a transportation wiz. This was certainly true for my husband who has a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. One drawback to the book is the order to me seemed pretty random. It is not written chronologically and it just jumped from one topic to another. Even with that being said We think you will have fun with this book. While it might be more for older children both young children and adults will have fun with it.

Great fun, highly recommended
First of all this book is stunning, high quality coupled with outstanding artwork and pop up features. I bought this book for my daughter who is pretty infatuated with it. There’s so much information and knowledge to soak in that this book will take some time to be fully read. Highly recommended for inquisitive minds. It’s so good I even bought other books by the same author for my nephews.
