The sub-title of this book is "Reflections of a Pilgrim on the Way." Wei Wu Wei offers important analytic, yet personal, meditations on non-dual philosophy and realization. He offers insights on understanding the Way (of Daoism, Buddhism, and non-dualism) reflected off of 'Western' sensibilities and scientific perspective.

Awesome

The primer or starting book in the Wei wu wei series of books. A great starter for those beginning on the pilgrim path.

1st of Wei Wu Wei series - See Why Lazarus Laughed review

1st of the Series - see Why Lazarus Laughed review (it just happened to come up before this book for review), but this is a superb book. Have read & reread all but last 2 books of his series

So what?

I found this work disappointing for two reasons. Firstly, it is an indulgence in highly speculative metaphysics. If not-knowing is an essential means to ego transcendence, what possible benefit can there be for a teacher to put knowing before his students? I frequently found myself saying, "Interesting, but so what?"Secondly, the writing is in the style of a journal and consequently suffers from the habit of a writer writing to himself. Since he already understands what he is saying, he doesn't take care that someone else would understand it as well.

As far as pointers go this points straight to reality

This book has opened my eyes to look beyond the words, which are merely pointers, and start to get a sense of whatever it is that until now I couldn't get or grasp.

Highly recommended read.

From a little known writer,Terence James Stannus Gray 1895-1986) writing under the pen name of Wei Wu Wei.This is almost a random collection of notes and anecdotes. From a single line to a page.Relating to Zen and enlightenment.A very compulsive and informative read for anyone interested in Zen and Buddhism.Highly recommended read.
