Inteli7-980X Core i7 Extreme Edition Six Core Processor 3.33GHz,12MB Cache,Socket 1366

I've owned this CPU since December 2010 and to be honest it still works great at the time I was hesitant on spending £700 on a cpu(not from Amazon) but this cpu has been great value since i haven't had to upgrade her in 5 years, the only thing i have upgraded is my GPU (now a 680GTX)The next CPU i will get will definitely be top spec.

I have one of these processors in my desktop. In the year that I've owned the processor I cant say I've ever maxed it out where I can't get the computer to do any more (where the OS becomes unstable). The performance is impressive but not ground breaking. I say that compared to the 2.53Ghz core 2 duo in my Sony Vaio laptop (bought in Sept 2008). I was expecting a lot more performance for the money. I feed this processor a diet of full HD video editing, transcoding DVDs and blu-rays. It could do all 3 at once and will still shrug the workload off.This is a great processor. But I wouldn't recommend it now to someone buying a new desktop. As all the focus is on the newer Intel sandy bridge processors and motherboards. Anyway for this price you could get a new sandy bridge motherboard and high end processor and still have change left and get similar level of performance.When would someone buy this?When they've got an Intel X58 motherboard, or when Intel have just announced that they are going to stop making these and the price drops by quite a bit.

bought it recently, i edit films daily so reducing rendering times would be ideal.a typical film rendered in blu ray format would takes hours, wasting time and computer resources. now it can render in good quality files under 20 mins...depending how elaboarate the edit was.i could process 5 projects in a day instead of a couple...saving me time and electricty as well.if i could afford to replace my 19 rendering computers with this baby it will make me a happy man...would buy another one for my hackintosh project as well and see what happens.if your a gamer you dont really need this one, as performance is too much for now givwn the price...it will not improve majority of your stuff.unless you have the right rig and config to start with...better buy a icore quad and youd be fine and wait for this one to go for under 300£.....its fast and great but not for everyone regardless if you have tons of cash.just wait...till someone orders 17 pcs of this processor then buy them too.lol

I have had this cpu now for about 3 months and its brilliant.I mainly use it for rendering video and models on 3ds max. But i also play games quite a bit.Rendering times are amazing, something that would have taken 2 hours on my core 2 duo now takes 10 minutes!Super fast and stays pretty cool.I f you are just buying this to play games, which is doubtful when looking at the price. I would advise against it.A quad core is more than sufficient for playing all games on highest setting anyway. I would recommend the 920 or the 950I have not over clocked my 980 yet due to me still being a student and valuing the Manufacturers warranty over extra performance.Highly recommend this processor over any AMD equivalent.Its simply amazing.

excellent processeur pour ceux qui font 5 taches "en même temps" . Overcloké a 4 Ghz + disque ssd ocz revodrive + un disque de 16 go en ram pour y mettre les fichiers temporaires , cela fait une machine de course bien agréable pour quelqu'un qui travaille 10 H par jour dessus .

Ich habe mir diese CPU zusammen mit dem Asus P6T6 WS Revolution Mainboard, der Asus nvidia Geforce GTX480 Grafikkarte und 12 GB Corsair PC-15000 Arbeitsspeicher gekauft. Vorher hatte ich einen 2-Kern-Prozessor. Als Betriebssystem habe ich Windows 7.Der CPU liegt ein leistungsstarker Lüfter bei, der in zwei Modi betrieben werden kann: volle Power und leiser Modus (wie die richtigen Bezeichnungen heißen, habe ich gerade nicht im Kopf). Dieses kann man an einem kleinen Schalter am Lüfter einstellen. Bei voller Power kann der Lüfter ziemlich geräuschvoll werden, was aber auch daran liegen kann, daß gerade Sommer ist. Mein Lüfter steht auf "Q" (leiser Modus) und ist kaum zu hören.Der Zusammenbau war ziemlich einfach. Als Befestigung des Lüfters dienen jetzt vier kleine Schrauben, was den Einbau wesentlich erleichtert. Ich erinnere mich noch mit Grauen daran, als ich eine viertel Stunde brauchte, bis der Lüfter endlich richtig auf dem Motherboard saß. Jetzt sind es nur wenige Handgriffe.Beim normalen Arbeiten merke ich kaum einen Unterschied zu meiner alten Zwei-Kern-CPU. Der Intel Core i7 980X Extreme geht aber ab "wie Schmidts Katze", wenn es um rechenintensive Aufgaben geht. Habe ich früher um die 22 Minuten gebraucht, um einen Film in das MPEG-2-Format umzuwandeln, so dauert es jetzt etwa fünf bis sechs Minuten. Und das, obwohl ich Arbeiten nebenbei erledige und BOINC zur gleichen Zeit Datenpakete berechnet.Die CPU wird im Taskmanager als 12-Kern-CPU angezeigt, dieses ist wohl im Bios änderbar, falls man dies möchte. Probleme mit irgendwelchen Programmen konnte ich nicht feststellen.Kaufempfehlung an diejenigen, die rechenintensive Aufgaben zu erledigen haben oder einen Rechner haben wollen, der ein paar Jahre aktuell sein soll.

Nach dem Eintreffen und Öffnen fällt erst einmal auf: Wow, endlich hat Intel mal einen brauchbaren Kühler mitgeliefert.Bei mir im PC läuft dieses Monster von einem Prozessor zusammen mit einem Rampage III Motherboard, 12gb DDR3 RAM und einer SSD-Festplatte und entfaltet dabei durchaus die in den Benchmarks versprochenen Leistungen.Der Einbau war recht unkompliziert, Wärmeleitpaste und Anleitung sind auch für Laien ausreichend.Der momentan stärkste frei käufliche Prozessor (Stand 08.2010) erreicht dies durch 12 (!) logische Prozessoren, HT-Technologie und Turbo Boost.Mit Hilfe der richtigen Einstellungen und einem ausreichen belüfteten Gehäuse reicht der mitgelieferte Kühler absolut aus.Selbst nach 30 Minuten Prime95 (welches eine Auslastung von 100%, also für einen i7 Extreme unrealistische Auslastung, erzeugt) erreicht der Prozessor lediglich eine Kerntemperatur von knapp 60 Grad Celsius und ist dabei noch recht leise. Hörbar, aber durchaus nicht störend. Sollte man bei dem Preis aber auch erwarten können.Durchaus ein empfehlenswerter Prozessor, doch leider mit einem Mercedes vergleichbar: Komfort (Lautstärke) und Leistung Spitzenklasse, Preis leider auch.Jetzt fehlt nur noch Software, welche die Leistung des i7 auch zu Nutzen vermag ;D

In Zusammenspiel mit einer Grafikkarte der GTX 1080 und 24GB Ram (ASUS Rampage III) spiele ich wirklich jedes Spiel, komplett auf Hoch bzw. Ultra in einer flüssigen 4k Darstellung, wirklich flüssig mit konstanten Framrates.PES 2019, Fifa19, Witcher 3, Ghost Recon Wildlands, WWE2k19, Far Cry 5, um nur mal einige zu nennen.Wer sich alle drei vier Jahre nen neuen Rechner holt, nimmt am Programm teil, welches komplett verblödet.Das einzige was der Prozessor nicht kann , ist aussterben. Das Ding ist Kult und ein Übertaktungsmonster, was ich aber nicht brauche, läuft bei mir im NormalModus.Weltklasse immer noch!
