thoughtful and intelligent human being who possesses passion and compassion
Having not yet read 26 Beats per Minute, but having known the author for several years, I believe this book will provide true insight into the worlds of professional cycling and eating disorders; two worlds one would think could not possibly co-exist. Dez is an authentic, thoughtful and intelligent human being who possesses passion and compassion. Knowing the author, I would highly recommend reading 26 Beats per Minute. I have purchased several copies, one for myself and others for family and friends. Please purchase your copy and prepare for a most unusual ride. I'll circle back once I've completed reading.

great insight into the mind of a troubled child and young adult. Where we go wrong when thinking we can just rationalize with the addict and the problem will go away. There is never an easy fix and the battle is full of anguish on both sides.

Exceptional writing
A must-read personal journey of solitary passion and the costs of self-perfectionism.This is the kind of book so well written that at the end of each chapter I want to both pause and reflect, as well as keep turning the page. 26 Beats per Minute is easily relatable throughout the clearly stated thought processes outlined within the story. I feel this is an important book for anyone who has ever struggled with a passion which created a yearning for self-perfection. This book is for empaths, over acheiving adolescents, athletes, perfectionists and anyone who is curious. I cherish this story's intricacies of discovering personal health through overcoming the challenges within One's own heart. This book might help someone feel less alone in their own struggle through a deep, personal inner world. The author is offering, on these pages, a humble wisdom which unfolds through the telling of a personal crisis. It is a sharing of humility that this young Man's personal quest to self care is written here. Though it almost took his life before he got there, we have an opportunity here to read his story and learn what we can to apply ourselves with compassion and stregth when we or anyone we encounter might find themselves in a similar place of self despair.
