Loved this movie so had to have my own dvd. No spoilers! Atmospheric, keeps you guessing till the end, recommend it for movie buffs

I missed The Snowman first-time around ... and the second and third. But the Christmas I first witnessed the power of this apparently simple story and its lovely hand-drawn images I was captivated. Peter Auty's haunting rendition of 'Walking in the Air' added a special magic to the flying scene.Years passed and I had children of my own and sure enough The Snowman became a favourite again. Time moved on until recently I was reminded of this classic by a friend. So I bought it and 27 years on, none of the magic has gone. Behind the scenes footage and backgound information shows how such a simple story took the world by storm. You see the people behind the creation, including Peter Auty, now a professional Tenor who was never originally credited (Aled Jones took the credit for his ToysRUs commercial and resulting single that followed).The Snowman also demonstrates the great power and impact of hand-drawn images rather than the perfection we've come to expect through computer generated graphics. Buy it; witness its charm, humour and fairytale qualities ... but don't forget the tissues for the ending.And remember that a snowman's not just for Christmas!

item arrived 2 days late,but i will give a five star rating because the dvd was well packaged, in perfect condition, and i had no issues with playback.

This is not your average thriller. Thomas Alfredson is not your average film director. Jo Nesbo is not your average thriller writer. If you prize atmosphere, beautiful cinematography and great acting over firefights and car chases, you'll love this. It helps if you've read the book but if you don't like being spoonfed every detail, you will enjoy this.If you like CSI or Bones, you won't.Yes, it's low-key. But it looks beautiful. Yes, it's complicated. But it's never boring. This is an intelligent, adult thriller made for other intelligent adults. If you watch Love Island but LOVE Fassbinder in the X-Men, don't bother.It's not Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - there were various production problems and I have the feeling there's a director's cut somewhere which flows better but some focus group in a shopping mall in buttf**k, Indiana with no experience of European cinema voted it was "too long and booooring! And what's with all the foreign music?" - but it's much better than these reviews will lead you to believe. There's a very David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo vibe about this - another film panned by critics and Joe Public alike, but personally, I loved that movie, too - and better than Lasse Hallstrom's 2012 The Hypnotist, another big, complicated Scandi thriller.So, visually stunning, atmospheric, a bit hard to follow if you haven't read the book. But very worth watching to make your own mind up. Be an individual.
