Because many people show up 5 to 10 minutes early for scheduled meetings at my office, I have put several little games and puzzles in the reception area for them to play white waiting. Of course, I test out the games and only place fun ones out there. I am certain that this Mini Bowling Game Set will be a hit. It is quick and easy to set up and fun to play. It will not generate frustrations (some of the puzzle games are difficult and annoying) or lingering attachments (some people seem disappointed for not having enough time to finish their game), just perfect for the 5 to 10 minutes needed to wait before their meeting.

Appearance: This set is good to look at: the whole thing is just cute. The wood is nicely smooth in almost all areas, though the backstop does have a few splinters near the bottom on the outside. The pins are cute, if lightweight. 

Game play: The ball holder pivots so you can pick off pins left standing on the sides. I like it when the ball hits the backstop, falls into one of the side tracks, and rolls partly back toward the bowler (I wish it would roll all the way back but it doesn’t seem to have enough force). The backstop makes sure all the pieces don’t fly off. Though, in fact, you don’t have to worry either about pieces flying too far or loud noises since the pins are lightweight and the ball doesn’t roll with enough force to create a big noise. Of course, this is a toy so you cannot expect the variations of spin that a good bowler can put on a real ball. Note that you do have to put the set on a very level surface or it doesn’t work well.

Fun factor: It is hard to rate the fun factor of this set since everyone has different ideas of fun. I quickly got tired of setting the lightweight pins up and watching the ball mosey down. This might make a good gift for kids or people who love bowling, but don’t expect to have uproarious fun using it for a bowling contest.
