Simple, but unique birthday gift
Nephew loves these! Bought two kinds to interchange pieces. Rolls well.

Truck is the best made of my three, but Automoblox have poor quality control, and play factor is low
Because the point of Automoblox is to mix and match parts from different vehicles, I ordered three different models: (*) Automoblox Mini C12 Cipher Sportscar (*) Automoblox Mini T15L Grizzly Pickup Truck (*) Automoblox Mini C11 Nebulous Sedan These three are shown together on the boxes for each one, leading me to believe that they are intended to be used to mix and match pieces. More on this below, but the car parts don't match well with the truck parts because the wheels aren't at the same level. In general, they are all at least _decently_ well made, but every one of them has some issue with quality that makes it not a very good toy. The biggest issues to me are rough wood patches and misaligned parts (and wheels that don't touch the ground) because of improper placement of pegs. Only one of my three, the truck, rolls very well. Also, none of them are nearly as shiny as the pictures indicate that they are, and the rubber tires aren't shiny at all. Things that I like about the designs: (*) With the three models that I got, every one of them is color coded so that you can tell which model the pieces are for when you've taken them apart and have a number of different model parts in front of you. The tires, posts, and top pieces all have the same color for a given model...and each model has a different color. That's awesome. The wheels are not color coded, though, so they aren't distinct if you take the rubber tires off (*) They Minis are a good size for toy, being about 4.5 to 5 inches in length. They are easy to grasp and small enough to move around quickly (*) You can put multiple center sections together to create a longer wheel base. Granted, it looks kind of junky because of the misalignments...but it's cool that it allows for that Something that I don't like related to the design in general: (*) Although advertised as being meant to mix and match, the truck and car parts aren't really designed for that. Yes, they will lock together, but the designs have the wheels at different distances from the center line...so they vehicles aren't level if you actually combine truck and car parts Things that I don't like that are related to poor quality control: (*) Two of the models that I got have sizeable rough wooden patches on them where they cut out material to make a feature but failed to sand it down. One is bad enough that I think a kid could get a splinter from it (*) Two of the models (different two than above) don't roll easily because one or more wheels sticks and/or doesn't touch the ground (*) There is generally some misalignment in the three segments of any given vehicle, with the C12 being the worst with noticeable steps in between. That gets worse when mixing and matching pieces from different vehicles In general, I don't recommend these.

Axle was broken when opened the box
Item had broken axle when opened the package. Was bought as toy for 6yr old, not durable enough for that age, since was broken out of the package.

Cute concept where vehicle can be snapped together without requiring tools
Very cool concept for kids who love to build things! Each package includes a twelve mix and match pieces that can be snapped together to form a real working vehicle. Components are color coded and include: • 3-Piece wood body • 4 Wheels • 4 Tires • Tinted Plastic Canopy Top This package included the miniT15L Grizzly truck design which is European beech wood. The edges of the wood are sanded and smooth. The wheels and tires snap on and have the ability to spin, so the cars actually move when pushed! The concept is to collect numerous kits and mix and match. The body is broken into three separate parts and can be interchanged with other packages. They are quality wooden vehicles that are fun to break apart and snap back together. Our 2-year old really enjoys taking it apart and proudly snaps it back. It is a smaller vehicle that is perfect for his smaller hands. The older grandsons prefer the vehicle kits that requires actual tools to assemble them. Summary: (1) made of European Beech wood body (2) Includes 12 mix-and-match components to build one truck (3) Pieces can be mixed with other Automoblox vehicles (4) Vehicle measures 4.75" when assembled; for ages 4+

An Updated Classic
I like the construction. If a toy is to be made of wood, as are the Automoblox cars and trucks, they need to be smooth, well-finished, and work well. They qualify on all accounts. Remember, though wood toys like this have a long history, they compete against very detailed, themed, colorful, and animated plastic toys, and so it’s important that they feel right in the hand - and a GOOD wood toy has a tactile feel that a plastic toy cannot emulate. Since a wood toy cannot (or does not) have anything close to the detail of its typical plastic competitor, it’s also important that its shape be both abstract AND strongly suggestive. Timeless ... but not dated, either. The Automoblox Grizzly Pickup is a good example. The shape is right. It’s modern, with the large wheels, muscular front end, and raked windshield, typical of today’s pickup trucks. Yet there is little detail. Perfect. Couple that kind of design sensibility with the functionality of interchangeable parts between vehicles in the Automoblox line, and you have an excellent recipe for success. The simplicity will engage younger children. The building capability will engage older children. This is the kind of toy that you will keep for your grandchildren long after your children have grown out of them. A classic toy brought into the 21st century. Highly Recommended.

Looks good. Only three wheels touch the ground at a time
Cool looking truck, but due to poor quality control one of the wheels stays in the air.

Comes apart too easily
Comes apart into too many pieces and doesn’t stay together well. Great for an organized kid who can keep track of it all, but for kids like mine who play wrecklessly these are not good at all.
