Heavy duty and well made. I bought this and charged it up and it charged perfectly. On the very first trip out with it to test it with my trolling motor, it took a tumble out of my truck bed onto the road at about 20 MPH. I quickly jumped out and ran back and grabbed it and found that a corner got a little beat up but otherwise, it was completely fine. Since then, there has been zero swelling, charging issues or output issues. This is heavy duty and well protected if it can take a tumble onto asphalt and still be just fine. Save the money you'd spend on some name brand battery and go ahead and grab one of these.

Keeps a good charge all day and light weight for a battery

As someone who uses a trolling motor regularly for fishing trips, I’ve gone through my fair share of marine batteries. This Newport 12V 50Ah Deep Cycle battery impressed me right out of the box. First, it’s much lighter than traditional AGM or lead-acid batteries I’ve used before easy enough to carry with one hand, which makes loading and unloading from my boat or vehicle much less of a hassle. Performance-wise, this battery delivers steady, consistent power. I ran it on a Newport 55lb thrust trolling motor and got a solid 4+ hours on moderate speeds with some bursts at higher throttle. Voltage remained stable the whole time, which means the battery didn’t sag under load like some cheaper options tend to do. Build quality also seems solid tight casing, clean terminals, and no noticeable heat build-up during extended use. It’s sealed and maintenance-free, which is a must for anyone who doesn’t want to deal with checking water levels or corrosion issues. One small point to note: there’s no built-in charge level indicator. I solved this by adding an external voltage meter, but it’s something to keep in mind if you like having that convenience. Overall, this battery strikes a great balance between weight, capacity, and price. It’s not the cheapest out there, but the portability and reliability make it a solid investment for serious boaters, kayak anglers, or even off-grid solar setups. Highly recommended.

Comes charged but I recommend checking the charge before using on your vessel . Light weight battery and great value for your money . Easy installation and water ready !

Although a great charger, do not use the Noco Genisu 1 1a 6v/12/v smart battery charger will not maintain or charge the Newport 12V50Ah Deep Cycle Heavy-Duty AGM marine battery. It will only charge up to a 30Ah deep-cycle battery. This is not easily known in the product description, and Amazon unfortunately pairs this item with the Newport 12V50Ah Deep Cycle Heavy-Duty Marine Battery, Lightweight & Sealed AGM, Trolling Motor Compatible battery. Very disappointed. The battery is great though!

Reliable battery, but delivers without thee nut to connect !! Why ??

I purchased this battery to power my small 18’ rowboat I use in the estuaries and sounds where I live. I was able to tootle around for 6 hours and still had more than half battery remaining. It’s a great value for the money. It is lightweight and small to carry back and forth from the garage to the car and boat and back. It provided sufficient power for my small motor.

Hooked it up to the trolley motor, worked great. Have to check back in when I finally take it out to see how long it lasts, and if it recharges.
