Great for fun or bulk modelling, despite not standing up to very close scrutiny
Our son’s model railway layout isn’t high art. From globs of glue to showing the scars of some major design indecision, it’s fun but it’ll never be photorealistic or win any awards. (We are, however, really proud of it as a family and really enjoy it.) In that context, these trees work pretty well at filling in some spaces and giving the layout a bit more character. From a distance they’re pretty good, but they don’t withstand close scrutiny. The consistency of the colour is a little bit primitive to be natural even among one species of tree. The excessive consistency of shape, while arguably indicative of a good consistent manufacturing process or good quality control, also ends up being so repetitive as to be a tiny bit unrealistic- but it is possible to tousle and spoil one or two trees a little bit to give them a slightly less uniform look. For more careful and detail-keen artists than ourselves, these would be more of a starting point for a little bit of spraying and playing to make them look better, rather than an all-in-one layout tree solution in their own right. The trunks are completely uniform sticks, and I wish the bases had been just marginally wider, not so much for the realism of actual tree shapes but more for the fiddliness involved in getting them to stick and stand up straight.I’m generally pleased with the quality of them. They give off a little bit of dust and the bags are a little dusty, but considering the value of the pack, I’m pleased overall to receive a box full of usable trees without broken pieces or flaws.Scale-wise, they don’t look out of place in a OO or OO9 layout (ours is an over-elaborate mix of the two gauges), though none of the trees is especially huge so any larger scale than OO would have these trees looking dwarfish. For the current asking price of eight quid for a box of fifty, these are much better value than we’d get in our local stockist of ‘proper’ modelling materials. And as our expectations for photorealistic and varied tree life weren’t too high, we are actually very pleased with these.

A veritable beautiful forest .
I have a relative who loves to model make so a fantastic idea for the birthday. Not one but Forty trees of different sizes. This is going to be so appreciated. They look realistic and great quality. There’s a little bit of fallout in the box but not too much . On the product page it does mention this and says ‘You can spritz some hairspray or styling spray to fix the debris before using it.’Actually I have seen my relative trimming and shaping model trees etc to make them more realistic and not all uniform. The price seems reasonable and especially for a handmade product.
