I was a little baffled when this arrived at first, as it looked like a piece of melted plastic inside a transparent vacuum packed bag. All became clear when I cut the bag open to reveal a round pouch 15cm in diameter, inside of which was packed the bucket hat. The pouch is actually part of the hat and turns inside out to become the top of the hat with the press stud on the inside. It's quite a clever design and means you can pack the hat into quite a small space or hang it from a backpack using the plastic carabiner clip.Most of the stitching looks pretty good apart from on the label that says "packable hat" which wasn't very well machined and had a trailing thread. The material is made of nylon/polyester which seems to be water resistant as I splashed some water on it and it rolled right off. You can tighten the brim of the hat by using the elasticated drawstring but I found it actually actually quite tight anyway. Perhaps I have a big head but I did think the fit was a bit on the small side. Also included is a lanyard for hanging the hat round your neck or so it doesn't blow off in the wind.It's a decent enough hat and I do like the packable feature even if it does leave the hat looking a bit creased when unpacked. I took a star off for the poor stitching on the label and I would have preferred cotton instead of polyester but other than that it seems like pretty good value for £5.49.

This works really well, very pleased

I was really impressed with how compact this safari hat is. It folds into a small pouch that I can easily clip to my bag with the portable hook, making it perfect for days out. It’s also quite sturdy once unfolded, which I wasn’t expecting from something so lightweight. However, it fits very snugly on my head, and there isn’t any give, even with the adjustable strap. This makes it less ideal for wearing for an extended period, which is something to consider if you plan on all-day wear.
