Ubuntu 14.04 Lts Server: Administration and Reference

I was actually trying to use this book as a text for teaching a Linux Admin class. My two biggest complaints are 1) much if not most server admin is done using a GUI. Apparently, Mr. Petersen is unaware that servers are typically running without GUIs. And 2) is the order of the topics in the early chapters. On the plus side, the text that does apply is well written, and I much prefer this book over Ubuntu's "Official Server Book." However, I cannot recommend this book if you are actually doing Ubuntu Server administration at the command line. It is missing some key admin areas, like TCP/IP, and you will be largely disappointed in this book for the above reasons. A much better choice is Wale Soyinka's "Linux Administration: A Beginner's Guide."

Good book easy to read.

This is a great book for me. I am constantly tweaking my 14.04 Lts server. The book is divided into stand-alone sections covering all the services of interest. Recommended.

Convoluted and incomplete, Not very useful at all.

This book should not be missed if you run your own 14.04 Ubuntu server.In fact it is a must for any ops person which has to care for a Linuxinstallation.The books is worth its weight in Gold.

Es kommt immer wieder vor, dass auf Dateien verwiesen wird, die gar nicht in dieser Version existieren, sondern in Vorgängerversionen. Das Thema Virtualisierung ist auch äusserst oberflächlich behandelt. Das Buch ist kaum eine Ergänzung zu den bestehenden Online Manuals.

This is only in regards to the Kindle version. The images are so tiny as to render the book unusable in my view. I'm going to have to get the paper version.
