It just works
I bought this for my junker car which had an after market Apple Carplay/Android Auto/Backup camera installed model Boss BVCP9685A. A chatted with BOSS online and asked them if this device would work and they said it should work but never tested their models with this device. I bought it thinking I could use it in another modern car if it failed on the after market device. It works like a charm. I connected to it via bluetooth and it just works! I purchased a similar device two years ago (not this company or model) and it worked in my modern car (2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid) but didn't work with my car's steering wheel controls forcing me to skip songs by touching the screen which was annoying. I'm happy to report that this device DOES WORK with my car's steering wheel controls. I just placed an order for a second device.CONS: Being wireless means battery drain so you might need to plug it into a charger. However, my Apple Car Play/Android Auto USB port on my car is not fast charging and the biggest annoyance of using a wire is accidentally bumping the cable and losing the connection. This wireless device avoids that so its a must buy!

Dysfunctional
works well for a few weeks. Now it only works if you unplug it and restart it multiple times

This is the device you've been looking for!
In 2016 when I got my truck with Android auto I was stoked! The phones we had then charged fine with the USB cable and it gave me access to Android auto (win-win). Then Waze became available and I was in hog heaven. But then the newer phones I got not only wouldn't charge with the cable but they would actually drain the battery faster than not being connected! I saw other people connecting wirelessly to their newer systems and was told that my system did not support wireless connectivity. I looked for a long time trying to find something and when I saw this I figured I'd give it a shot. Connecting to it is a simple as plugging the device into the USB port on your vehicle and then on your phone connecting to the Bluetooth name that it broadcasts.... And that's it!!! You just leave it in the port and when you start your vehicle within 10 seconds Android auto pops up even with my phone locked and in my pocket. Most of the time it connects within 2 to 3 seconds. I drove a newer vehicle that had wireless Android auto and it took about 30 to 40 seconds before it would connect after starting the vehicle. I can't believe this device for the price is as good as it is, but it is! If you've been looking for a way to get Android/Apple auto/carplay wirelessly on an older system, this is the device you've been looking for! 10/10 recommend!

Cheap but useful
Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the connections has to periodically reset by unplugging and reconnecting. It then syncs within seconds.

At first sounds good but starts overheating and you have to unplug it every 5 minutes.
When you plug it at first it works well but after more than 30 mins like a long distance trip then it starts to overheat and it interferes with robotic noise every 3-5 minutes so you have to unplug it to cool down to be able to use it again.

As good as it gets
I have a 2023 Sorento which comes with wired android auto. This dongle, the size of a flashdrive does the trick. It was easy to connect. Just pair it with the Bluetooth as the instructions suggest and the device does the rest. If you want to go straight to Android auto in your car , goto start Android auto settings on your phone and set it to always. It will bypass the car default screen. . About, the device, it connects every time. The interface is smooth and no stutters. It allows you to use the default steering buttons. Note. Long press mic button to use android auto. Lastly , I was unable to update firmware using the method described but that's ok. The current firmware is just fine. This is a really good buy and a must have for people who want wireless android auto without breaking the bank. One last thing. On turning off and locking the car Sorento's computer keep the data port powered for a couple of minutes after which the phone disconnects. I think this period is different for other cars and some people can see it connected to the car for much longer periods after the car is shut down and locked. This has nothing to do with this product but the cars power management system.

Cheap
This will work for a few weeks at best. It connected well with my Power Acoustik head unit and then randomly it would change the radio stations and cause the head unit to glitch. Now you have to plug and and unplug several times before it works.

Don't buy unless you're willing to risk $20
I so wanted to like this. I was amazed when I plugged my $20 dongle into the USB and it connected seamlessly out of the box. But wait! Don't get excited too soon. Two days later it was attempting to connect, failed, tried again, failed..... I could not find any rhythm nor reason. I unpaired my phone, power cycled my phone, power cycled both the dongle and my phone, tried when I had no other BT devices in range, and tried again where there's was no chance of the dongle fighting with another wifi hotspot. I finally found the solution! Leave it sitting in your console for a month while you try to remember to give it a bad review on Amazon. More plug it back in and huzzah!!! It's working again. Well working, maybe not. I'm now having to contend with the issue others have mentioned, the throughput is not adequate. Every ten minutes (guestimate) it will stutter and and freeze. Others suggest that overheating is the cause. I'll give it a try.
