UPDATED REVIEW after product updates and re-test
UPDATED REVIEW: I have my original review, a 1 star review, below for comparison. After my original review and return of the product, for which i was fully reimbursed for, the founder of the company personally reached out to me months later after stating they had made some improvements based on some correlating negative aspects that i endured the first go around. They VERY kindly reached out and sent me the new updated version of this hammock to try again and review. For what I assume is a very busy, growing small business (U.S. small business at that), it really meant a lot that they took the time to not only reach out, but to take the reviews to heart and use any negative feedback to improve their product. So huge kudos to that, and that's before trying the hammock 😀.Okay, so I opened this up and I immediately noticed the updated nylon material. It was super comfy to the touch, but you could tell they had used a new, strengthened design. The straps, as they were the first time, are AWESOME, some of the best in the hammock world that we've seen. After putting it up, I immediately noticed the size difference. The new hammock is way larger than the first. Which definitely got me excited, as I could barely fit before. My partner and i even both got in together for some lounging, and we both easily fit. They eliminated the snaps that hold the poles that frame the net, and stitched them into the hammock to where there's no way that it will jet or poke into the body space of the hammock, as my last one did. There's also little things, like stitching the instructions into the storage pouch, a bigger inside pocket pouch, upgraded nylon and mesh material, and additional loops both inside/outside to customize the bug netting. These all add up to an immensely superior improved product. I definitely feel comfortable, and even excited, to take this bad boy out into the woods for a full overnight stay. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This may have been just a fluke with my purchase, but it's all I have to go on. While it is easy to set up, and comes with great, really long straps, that's where the positives end. Upon setting it up the first time, one of the bell poles for the bug net was already broken, and poking into the hammock, right where your head is supposed to go. Also, the size is incredibly misleading. I'm a pretty short guy (5'7), and this hammock was incredibly too small. Like kids only, 10 years or younger type of too small. Typically, if you don't want a taco experience where you get completely wrapped up, you would lay diagonally in order to lay more flat. This was impossible to do comfortably, and I woke up with terrible shoulder pain the morning because they were scrunched up the whole time.

Comfy for overnight. Not for folks much taller than 5’8”
I purchased this hammock on the recommendation of a friend and enjoyed it quite a bit! I’ve been curious about hammock camping and thought this would be a low cost entry to give it a try.A couple of weeks ago I took this hammock out and camped over a beautiful cool river in the Texas Hill country. At first I was put off a bit by the fact that the netting is not removable. You can’t even zip it far enough to flip it over the side. But then I realized you could just flip the whole hammock over and use it without the net. (Doh! SMRT!)When you are in the hammock at night, the integrated hoops keep the netting from being too close to your face. So there’s no feeling of being claustrophobic. (See the included photo.)After I got settled in, I slept like a baby. It was really comfortable and being off the ground really helped me to stay cool with the added air circulation. There was a point in the night where I was actually a little too cool. And considering that this is a Texas in the summertime, that’s a pretty good win.I am 5‘8“ tall and really don’t think taller folks would fit comfortably in this hammock. I’ve since upgraded to a Warbonnet Ridgerunner and am passing this down to my son.• In short: A good entry for folks curious about hammock camping. Not for taller people.

Decent Hammock for the price
Well I wanted to give this 5 stars, but I had two problems. First the snap that holds the retaining wire in on one of the sides would not stay closed and the wire kept coming out, so when I got home I just sewed it shut so it does not come out at all now, I don't see why they should come out anyways since when you flip the hammock over they don't get in the way. The other issue was when I first hung the hammock it kept wanting to flip over to the netted side and then got caught on a stick and put a small tear in the netting. So regarding the netting on this hammock: its not high grade netting it looks a pretty blue color, but its not like the no-see-um mesh you find on tents or other outdoor equipment. I would recommend they upgrade this and also add some more outdoor colors if they want to push sales. So on the plus side: the selling feature of no-taco pinching is spot-on. It does not squeeze you or pinch you so that your can't move or relax so that is a great design. The two covered ends are nice as well and give privacy. The straps and connectors are terrific. Sorry I was not able to add pictures something is blocking in right now on the site.

A true blue tale!
I've just recently became a hammock camper as of this year. My first back packer hammock was a good start. Until it became bug season. Then all bets where off at that point. It wasn't until later when I was introduce to built in netting, well it was a better experience by far. So I decided it was time to start investing in my own. I was not found of the string up netting hammocks at all, to much extra work. I began my browsing and found Ridge Outdoors Gears. I was excited for the design with the pop up net feature, and a great price. I order my hammock an waited for it to arrive. I received a notice a few days later it had arrived. On a very wet and soggy day. I was unreleased to find it was left out in the rain on delivery. Took it out and dried it off over night. Following day was my first chance to test it out. I set it up as usual, and heat to admit it pulled a very rookie moved. I place my weight to far back in the hammock, a preformed an award winning back flip. To my dismay i managed to damaged my netting. I was crushed. Soon after I searched to find a way to contact Ridge Outdoors. I did through FB, sent my tale of dismay. I was shortly contacted and was informed to send back my damaged hammock and a replacement would be sent post hast. Thanks to some great Customer Service. I receive and my hammock with-in a few days. And was able to enjoy it greatly this weekend for the first time. I would like to thank this company for an awesome product, and awesome employees.Sincerly,Tim Robbins(not the actor)
