Great lure. Have caught plenty of fish on my last one, but broke it off on a big fish. Now it’s time to get me some new ones.

The brown in this pic literally has this very lure in its mouthThis is the original. The quality, spin, performance that pioneered the spinner for me when I was a kid.I fly fish too, and this looks like an emerger.Size is up to you. Big lures catch big fish. But depends where you are. But I’ve gotten small mouth tooPrice is what it is against more poorly made spinners. But this is all I use here on the gunpowder.

I did not want to lose another one of these (mine are 1950s antiques) in my favorite stream, these have the same action - and are almost identical in color, and of course, the hooks are not all rusted like the ones 65 years old! I even got a few of the single hook versions and removed the barb (squeeze it tight with strong pliers) so I can use them where selective gear is required. I recommend this lure, great for trout or small steelhead.

The brown trout patter is my favorite color. The paint chips quite easily so I wish it were more durable. Great spinning action and this is the ideal casting weight. One of my favorite trout fishing lures for overall performance.

I bought my first Rooster tail as a kid in a Vermont country store. It was a Silverish Blue & had a silver blade and was 1/8oz. I caught fish left and right on that spinner. We had a place on a Lake and i fished day and night. That Rooster tail caught Rainbow trout, smallmouth, Perch and Largemouth.. lots Pickerel. Trolling, casting and some jigging the Rooster tails spinners are one of the best, if not THEE best spinner i have ever fished. I like the 1/8 & 1/6oz size, but i have heavier Rooster tails also.These days i mostly throw Rooster tails for Trout & Smallmouth. In my experience the Brass blades model work best. I have had REALLY good success with the Black Glitter & Rainbow Trout colors.Amazon has some of the best prices and i stock up often.Tight lines.

Very good lure that will catch anything. I love using the 1/16 oz on an ultra light setup. Even tiny bluegill feel huge and hooking onto a good sized bass feels like you hooked a truck

I have used rooster tail lures as long as I can remember and had a lot of luck with them. After years working so much I didn't take time to go fishing and then becomingb disabled I am going to try to go fishing again. I ordered a number of lures from different manufacturers and have had various problems with quality, and fulfillment issues, but I am happy to say the rooster tail I ordered is everything I was hoping for.
