I have to report that many of the suggested activities are great for a very mixed group of young people
I bought this book soon after publication, but have held baack on reviewing it for a reason. I am a Scout Leader, Frequently I have dyslexic youngsters in my Troop, and know that the same is true for other Leaders. I wanted time to try out some of the ideas with my Troop, and also hear tyhe thoughts of others who would try things out as well. I have to report that many of the suggested activities are great for a very mixed group of young people. As is often the case, simple ideas can be both fun and challenging - and do not "show up" people with a diffent skill set. One example is a game in chapter 8 that has small groups counting from 1 to 10 or from H to P. Sounds silly until you read and try the whole thing. It challenged everyone. There is lots of stuff for individuals and for groups of varying sizes. It should be a resource for anyone who interacts with young people. I note that the recommended ages are from 7 to 13, but as a Leader I think that it can easily be slipped into actitities for a wider age with just a little planning.

A short read. Useful.
I am a teacher and a mum and wanted to gain ideas about how to help my son. I found the questions at the start to identify a child's learning style helpful as it helped my create tasks aimed at his strength. I also really liked the suggested tasks/examples. My son is very visual and active. I have taken the ideas on board and have made matching pair games, odd one out games, we use plasticine, magic wand (paint brushes the example but my son is H. Potter mad!). This isn't a how to guide and it doesn't provide you with resources (although there are some links of variable quality provided) but it did get me thinking and as a result I have been better able to help my son - which was what I hoped for.

Brilliant book
This book is great - I tutor kids, and some of these activities look like they’ll be great fun to try... it’s written clearly (I’m dyslexic myself, so that is great!) and it is clearly laid out.

Fun games and activities for children with dyslexia
Not many words to each page; not a lot of content for the price. The title gives the impression of a must have book, so I was very disappointed with it.
