Easy to understand
Complex subject and it is laid out very well by the author. I bought two of his other books Just as good. Good writer also, easy to follow along.

Great book for the money
The M1 Garand Owner's Guide is everything I was expecting. I needed detailed instructions on disassembly to inspect, clean and lubricate two recently purchased M1's. This book was a big help to me. It has good explanations and illustrations showing what needs to be done. Good detailed instructions on how to sight in the M1. Also lots of information on the history of the M1. Another great book with even more detailed information is "Hatcher's Book Of the Garand" (about 279 pages of reading and detailed pictures compared to 122). I am glad to have both books and highly recommend them if you have or are considering getting an M1 or just like reading about them.

This thin book covers everything you will have to know about the M1 Garand
This book will fill your need to know about the M1, providing interesting history and events about the gun as well as covering in great detail its construction, assembly/disassembly, tips and recommendations regarding use, storage, cleaning -- you name it, Mr. Duff has it covered. If you are a gunsmith, you probably should opt for the multi-volume , very expensive, alternative on the market. But most of us who own and use or just cherish the M1 this little gem does nicely.

Excellent one-stop resource for the collector/owner
If you're looking for great, no-fluff info on the M1-Garand from someone who really knows his stuff, you need this book. I kept coming across the author's name in my research, saw he had written a number of books on this topic, and decided this was a book worth owning. He's also on the board of directors of the Garand Collectors Association. Enough said.

Necessary handbook for Garand owners
The book is well written and concise. For anyone who has always wanted a Garand or who has one and never been instructed on the nuances of the rifle this book is essential. Plus it is much more affordable than Hatcher's book (which is on my wish list).Reading the book and referring back to it has help me understand the M1 Garand enough to not look like a complete idiot the first few times I took it to the range. Still, the book won't prevent you from "Garand thumb"! That is a lesson that must be learned in person!Anyway, if you can afford the rifle and some accessories you can afford this book. Personally, I own two Garands and each is like owning a piece of our history. Shooting them is enjoyable enough but there is a sense of our history that is profound. This rifle played a huge role in our victory in WW2. A "force multiplier" is an appropriate description.
