Beef Tallow,Nourishing Tallow Balm 2.12oz Rich Moisturizer for Face and Body Care

I was a bit skeptical to try this out but had heard good things and wanted to see for myself. I'm a Cosmetologist and MUA. I tend to have dry/combo skin. I noticed almost immediately my skin absorbed this stuff like a dream. It does have a nice creamy consistency that doesn't feel too heavy. I didn't personally notice any smell. I waited a few weeks and I feel my skin is noticeably more hydrated. It works well under makeup and as a night cream. I know it usually takes 6 weeks+ to have a full experience of a product, but at 3 week mark, all is great. I will definitely update again.

I have a tad bit of confidence in this product's ingredients (listed as only tallow and shea butter), but only a tad. I'm accustomed to the very subtle aroma and feel of shea butter on my skin, and this cream does seem to have that. However, I do wish there was 3rd party testing and more transparency about the company online. It would be nice to be confident that additives are excluded, especially at this price point. My personal experience is that tallow and shea butter should leave a bit of residue behind - not evaporate almost immediately. Other reviewers are mentioning that they love this lotion because it evaporates so quickly and leaves no greasy residue behind, and I agree that this feels nice, but this "non-greasiness" has me wondering how much tallow is included or if there are any alcohol agents assisting with this nearly immediate evaporation (as you might find in other synthetic lotion products - which feel great for sure, but immediate evaporation is not typical behavior of using animal fat on skin). I love the feeling of lotions that evaporate quickly, leaving behind only softness, but I'm not willing to smear the ingredients that accomplish this feeling all over my skin. It would be better to have a little bit of residual sheen than to be absorbing toxins to avoid the sheen. I'm unable to find this brand online or any information about this product beyond this listing on amazon. It makes me quite hesitant to believe the ingredients are what they say they are. If Pittoresque releases some 3rd party testing results, 3rd party lab certifications, or had any kind of online presence, I would feel a little better about leaving a higher review. Or if it actually felt like tallow, which should be a bit heavier than this cream, I would have less questions about additives. Otherwise, this lotion does make my skin feel amazing and it does hint at having shea butter, both good things in of themselves. I'm still giving 4 stars because it this product has been machine whipped for a long period of time, it could possibly be a lighter cream with somewhat faster evaporation. I just wish the brand had more info online backing up their ingredients. Those of us using tallow, which is only recently becoming more mainstream, are typically concerned about ingredients and brand integrity, and as such, we want to have a lot of confidence in a $30 jar of lotion the size of a large walnut.

At first when I received this, I was a bit disappointed. I only ordered it because the listing says it's 100% tallow but when I received it, there was shea, cocoa and other ingredients, too. I almost didn't try it on my face because in the past, shea butter and cocoa butter have always broken me out but I thought what the heck, let me try it! and I'm SO glad I did. It's officially been 11 days since I started using this face cream and I'm so impressed. First off, it smells delicious! (Which is unusual for tallow based products.) It's a yummy vanilla scent. Second, it makes my skin glow! I've used other tallow balms that I love because it's the only thick moisturizer I can use on my super sensitive, acne prone skin that doesn't break me out. I stopped ordering it years ago when I was poor because it's expensive and have since forgotten all about it. My mom stopped me the other day and said, "Your skin is glowing! What are you doing differently?" My skin has also been super clear lately. Like surprisingly clear. I did recently start to break out a couple of days ago because of stress and even that quickly went away, when in the past, it would usually linger and/or spread for weeks before clearing up, after a stressful event. Overall, for the scent, quality and effectiveness, I can 100% recommend this tallow balm and I will absolutely be reordering it with my own money for the foreseeable future, until they stop making this product!
