The 3600 is Better than the 3500
I had the 3500 version of this shaver for nearly four years, but it stopped charging. I ordered this 3600 and find it to be a superior shaver, even though it looks almost identical. It gives as good a shave as any rotary shaver and the pop up trimmer works well. I have only had the 3600 for two days but so far am very pleased. The 3600 requires an adapter to charge it but that is a minor inconvenience. The 3500 was difficult to charge. The cable connectors were just pushed into the bottom of the shaver but it was hard to get them to work. For the past two years with the 3500, I had to pull the cable out and push the connectors in three or four times before the charging lights would come on. With the 3600, there is an audible click when the connectors are in place and the charging lights come on immediately. It only takes about an hour to fully charge and the instruction book says the charge lasts for 60 minutes of shaving. The 3600 is easy to clean, which I do once a week. Just remove the head and cutters. I use an old toothbrush to scrub everything and then put it back together and start charging it. The 3600 takes the same SH30 replacement heads as the 3500 and I change them once a year. I have never had a problem with the replacement heads that I order from Amazon. They work fine. The 3600 will give a good close shave. This one should last longer than the 3500 I just replaced. The Philips Norelco 3000 series rotary shavers are a good model. I don’t recommend the 3500. But, I highly recommend the 3600 rotary shaver.

If you could only have one shaver, this is the one to get.
This shaver does an excellent job with minimal irritation. Build quality is good and so is battery life. The pop-up trimmer (unlike the short, flip-up trimmer on my Braun) is long enough when deployed to trim the hair around your ears and even do light touch-up trimming of your hair as well as serving as a sideburn trimmer. The rotary action is inherently vibration-free and very quiet. It's handy to be able to rinse the shaver after every shave or even use it in the shower with or without lather. USB charging means that all you need as a travel charger is the charging cord and your already present laptop computer or phone charger. The rotary heads shave close enough. If I want a really close shave, I can either just use an actual razor or touch up with my Braun foil shaver after shaving with the Norelco. No single tool is perfect at everything which is why I own and use both a rotary and a foil shaver. But if I could only have one way to shave, the Norelco would be it.

Nice razor, battery life not so great.
I have been buying Norelco electric razors for decades and so now I have this new unit. It is a bit lighter than what it replaced, cleans easily, charges quickly, gives a close shave, and is easy to hold. So far my only dislike is that it does not hold a charge so long as past models I have had. I may get five to seven or so shaves (possibly, haven't counted for sure) before it seriously needs a recharge. I often take short driving trips when I am gone a few days and in the past have just made sure my razor was charged before I left and did not bother to take the charging cord with me. With this unit, I think I better remember to take the cord just to be sure it doesn't go dead on a road trip.

So very happy
Wow! I am 68 years old and have been shaving for a lot of years. I have never enjoyed a better shave than with this razor. My beard grows every which way, especially on my neck. No matter which direction I shave with a three blade razor and shaving cream, there is no way that I get all the hairs. It is very frustrating and irritating to my skin to go over and over the same area. I have tried everything. Thank heavens my beard color is blonde and doesn’t show five o’clock shadow. This new rotary razor is as close to perfect as it can be. It gets 98% of the beard off of my face without irritation and it looks and feels good. No more mess with shaving cream and so far no nicks or cuts. I shave dry and am finished quickly. I wonder why I waited so long to try a rotary razor. The price is not terribly high and worth every penny.

Quality, fun to use shaver
I've seen this style of shaver in movies and such while growing up. You know, the guy shaving in the car while stuck in traffic late to work? What a time saver I thought. But I always went with some form of safety razor for precision and closeness. After 30 years or so of seeing rotary shavers in ads, movies etc, and excellent results with other Philips Norelco products, like the vacuum beard trimmers they used to make. I figured the tech on the rotary razor is super refined by this point and wanted to try one. Even if it sucked, I knew I could use it at least on occasion to get a head's start if I was in a rush.I got the 3600 because when I went to the brand website, it was one of this year 2024's releases. And I knew I wanted the latest engineering greatness. Also this one came with a pouch, which is nice. If you look at all of their shavers that look like this, there's not a whole lot of difference other than 5D vs 4D heads, the product color, and whether or not it comes with a pouch, stand, or both. Look closely, some of them the only difference from one to another is that for $20 more you get a charging stand.Anyway, I got this one because it's a newer release, comes with a pouch, and I figure 5D means slightly more efficient or faster shaving. I haven't compared but I wouldn't think twice about any of their other shavers. I would expect a similar experience with any of them. The shaving experience is very nice, the rotary razors glide over my face like butter. I should note that I use the Lectric Shave splash first, which dries fast and then I dry shave over it. I like this a lot more than shaving in the shower with shaving cream, as I do with safety razors. The problem shaving wet with this is unless there is some lubrication on your face at all times, there is no glide with this electric razor. I imagine this is true for any rotary razor but, my experience is best dry with the splash first - no water. This works great to quickly and painlessly clean up your scruff, but if you haven't shaved in a few weeks it's probably better to start with a beard trimmer, as it seem like it would be quite a chore to weed whack a beard with this.Compared to the travel foil shavers I have from Bruan and Panasonic, I find that the Philips Norelco rotary does a better first pass, and the foil shavers do a better second pass or refining. With with the rotary/foil combo I can get a shave about the same as I would with a safety razor.Anyway, very cool and fun to use. Really my favorite part is the sensation itself of massaging my face with the rotary part. It doesn't feel like I'm shaving at all, more like massaging my face, which is so nice.
