Birthday gift for a creative son
My son got this for his birthday and he was very excited! He started using it immediately to create a chess set. He's already gotten through some of the chess pieces and really loves this lathe. The only issue he's had with it is that some of the tools are not as sharp as they could be but that's not a major challenge as we can sharpen them at home with the other tools we have. There are also other tools with different shapes that you may want to get after becoming comfortable with the lathe. This is a fantastic starter set and has everything you need to begin gaining experience. One thing to ensure that you do, however, is to secure the lathe to your working surface!

Pleasantly surprised...
As the title states, pleasantly surprised by this little cheap Chinese machine. Being nowhere near a new wood turner I'm someone who recreates 18th century powder horns and various other accoutrements so turning is essential to my craft. Having a full-size lathe is a must and this little fella absolutely is no comparison to a real lathe and should NOT be purchased assuming it'll function as such because it absolutely will not. Even with that I wouldn't recommend it be purchased by anyone wanting to learn as a beginner because it takes skill to operate effectively for good results. All that aside this little lathe peaked my interest for small turned horn collars, turned tips and stoppers. My larger lathe obviously preforms such tasks accordingly but setup sometimes can be finicky with the smaller and more delicate pieces. This is exactly what my intent was with this "micro machine". After spending some time turning various pieces and tweaking I've concluded it's certainly a keeper and does it's intended job very well. The torque of the motor is suprising and it has ample power relative to it's size. Also, motors are easy to replace so even if one burns up that indeed is an easy fix. However there are a few drastically needed modifications outright. Every accessory the lathe comes with is garbage minus the little jaw chuck, live center and spur. No big deal, to be expected as it's only used for turning so throw the rest of the filler away. The tool rest isn't even that and useless... A modification here is downright essential and easy to do. I made several rests that are interchangeable so be aware a stable rest is critical for good results. Lastly mount the lathe to a piece of MDF for stability.Besides a few short comings that are easily overcome I'm very surprised at how well it does the intended job's I've asked of it. If you are completely realistic about what it is and is not it'll perform well. Good turning tools, a stable rest and platform you'll be off to the toothpick turning races! My only true gripe is not being able to bring the speed down. Easy to mitigate but it is a tad to fast even on the lowest setting, but nowhere near a deal breaker.

Small and Fun to use
always wanted to learn how to use a lathe and figured this would be a good one to start with. it's small, easy to setup and pretty fun to use. same with all the tools that are needed to get started making a piece of wood round! i'm not really sure what i will end up using it for, but right now it's pretty fun just turning a block of wood into something else.

Okay at first, underpowered though
Lathe worked fine at first but motor began to struggle at any speed. For $60 Its understandable and was easy to use. Tools also burnt up and weren’t sharp almost immediately.

Práctica
Muy útil, facilidad en su maniobrabilidad y necesaria para trabajar dando forma a la madera

It's a fun tool
If you go in with the expectation that it's not going to get you the same performance as a much larger and much more expensive machine you will be happy. I was able to make some small dowels for a project rather easily with this. Next I'm going to use it to make a new handle for a Bowie knife. It's fun. Mount it to your work bench and try it out. The chuck works well. If anything, I may upgrade it later with a few parts.

Value for money
Good for a beginner, and Small projects, legs have already broke on it but I just screwed it down to a piece of wood and the other thing was the tool rest is a little small so I have to upgrade that but other than that good quality for the price
