Quality smartwatch
I have to commend Withings on this watch. I love watches and any excuse to buy a new one. Personally, I find the smart watches try too do too much these days and I end up not using it, but this watch has struck a sweet spot that I have not come across with others. The main reason for buying this watch for me was the fact that it uses traditional hands. I do not need to tilt my wrist to read the time and the stronger the sun, the better I can see it because they are REAL hands (hurrah). They even have a small amount of luminous pain on them which is just enough to be able to read them in the dark, but failing that, you can resort to pressing the button and the time will display in the top window. Furthermore, if the window is blocked by any of the hands, it will move the hands out of the way to enable you to have an unobstructed view of the window. Cleverly, it only does this if the hands are in the way. What a wonderful touch. This watch has a very long battery life. The manufacturers have clearly thought about all of the battery draining aspects and designed the watch with this as a key deliverable. For example, there is no second hand and the minute hand moves in one movement every minute rather than sweeping slowly around the face. I also like the step monitor, it is the bottom dial and enables you to see at a glance approximately how many steps you have achieved in the day. Other functions such as sleep, sport and a host of heart and breathing related aspects that are allegedly medical grade are interesting and in a way reassuring, but not intrusive or the main reason I wanted a watch like this. I use a bicycle most days and the set-up is simple. A long press gets it into exercise mode (you can change this if you like), three rotational clicks on the side button and you see a picture of a bike, one more press and it's all set. It links to Strava and takes GPS from the mobile, measuring speed, distance and heart-rate continuously. It certainly did a better job than my previous smart watch which actually surprised me given the visual simplicity. The only thing that I have found rather strange is that there is no way of knowing the precise time in seconds. This certainly doesn't bother me but it might bother others. Honestly, I haven't really done this watch justice. I cannot stress how much I have missed having a proper watch on my arm, it looks and feels fantastic. The other features I think are a bonus, yet they work reliably and the whole watch is extremely well thought out. This is such a good watch, I don't think I can ever justify giving anything else five stars in the future!

The greatest tracker for watch entusiasts, with great features
I started to be interested on Scanwatch since its presentation at CES 2020. After hesitating getting one on early release in Augusto (1000 pieces), I got it a few days ago in normal sales through Amazon, updated to the latest software. In general review. If you like watches, this is the PERFECT tracker. You get a good step and HR monitor which you can wear every day without feeling of having a rubbery tracker or a mobile phone strapped to your wrist. Notifications are off by default and it does its job without being intrusive, with little use of the long lasting battery. The information is clear and simple: steps, floors climbed, distance travelled, heart monitor, always monitored. Then you can start tracking activities, run an ECG or run an Oxygen Saturation monitor. The night sleeping monitor can be improved in my opinion. But it does have some good functionalities like tracking the O2 levels to detect sleep apnea, which to me was quite important as I had some episodes a while ago. Overall, it is a brilliant tracker for watch entusiasts, featuring standard straps, for people that want a battery that lasts more than a day or few days without charging and for people that are interested in proper health monitoring features, maybe due to conditions or general awareness. Brilliant product. Detailed review and useful notes. I have done all the configuration with the app, so I am not sure why some reviewers found that difficult... Open the Health app, add the device and it just works. I tested it on an Android device. The overall watch width for the 42mm version is 50mm. Check your wrist. As a watch entusiast, the recommendation is always to have the watch not exceeding the width of your wrist. If your wrist is narrower, just go for the 38mm and it will look nice and classy. I got a couple of doctor friends that checked the results. The ECG is a bit noisy to their like, but usable and useful, especially if you have a condition to monitor. Remember that for the ECG to work you need to place your other hand on top of the watch. Keep as still as you can to avoid noise from the reading. Together we also checked the O2 measurements and were let down at first by that. Measurements were either "inconclusive" or measuring low saturation levels compared to the finger regular sensor we were trying. We checked then more carefully the instruction, as one of the doctor pointed out about the watch being closed to the wrist bones. It turned out by reading there that the watch has to be places AT LEAST 1cm away from such bones. Also, it has to be fit relatively tight. Not too much, but enough so it doesn't slip on your skin (when trying to rotate it, the skin should follow). Also, you should rest your hand relaxed on a surface, possibly opened. Results were always spot on by just doing that. Check the picture attached to see how I was doing my readings. Small downside notes: the charger is not inductive, it uses 2 contacts that have to be aligned well for it to work and they get out of place if you accidentally touch the watch. Just be aware. Charging time is quick, less than an hour as far as I can tell. The regular HR monitor (with the LEDs) is quite fast and seems relatively reliable. The battery lasts for days and days of wearing it constantly with the standard monitoring running. Battery depletes a bit faster when running ECGs and O2 measures, but not terribly fast. During my tests I noticed because I was running a test after the other, so overall the battery duration is impressive EDIT: the battery is amazing. I tried charging it in full and check it out for a few days. I have been wearing the watch 24/7, went out walking, had quite a few ECG and O2 measurements taken. It has been 17 days now on, the battery still shows 23%... I am amazed. I think I might forget to charge it when it is needed :)

Some good features, some not so good and some lacking
As along time user of smartwatches, I’ve come to expect certain things and this often has less than I would expect. I think it is better to think of it as a health watch than a full smart watch. Firstly, the positives. The heart rate tracking appears accurate and I have to assume that the ECG is too but have nothing to compare this to. As a hybrid watch it looks smart and is comfortable to wear. Now the negatives. The spo2 tracking seems poor. More often than not it says inconclusive and when it does work, it gives a much lower reading than my fingertip oximeter. The sedentary reminder is only possible during the ‘day’ so not helpful for somebody whose days are others nights because they work shifts. Plus it doesn’t take very much movement to satisfy it so it doesn’t really work. The sleep tracking is also not great, it will say I am sleeping deeply when I know that I was laid awake. The notifications scroll briefly across the hybrid window and then are gone, there is no way to check them as they are not stored. The app is fairly good but sometimes I have to close and then restart it before it will sync. Now the lacking. No GPS. Relatively little depth in workout options. Modern smartwatches are getting ever expanding features such as voice assistants, NFC for contactless payments, compass. I guess things like weather aren’t really an option for a small hybrid screen. Ultimately, I bought it for the ECG and the atrial fibrilation detection and I can only assume that these work well so I will continue to use the watch for this reason. As a health watch, I can accept that it won’t have full smart watch features but Withings need to sort out some things like the rubbish spO2 detection and the poor sleep tracking. It’s not a cheap watch and so should be expected to work properly. As a health watch, I think the next model should include a temperature sensor too. This is my first Withings product and whilst I like the look of their range, my experience so far is that a premium priced product should work better. Edit: After reading the other reviews, the spO2 detection is much more reliable when the strap is very tight and the watch is further from the wrist bone (around 2cm). However, after further usage, the sleep tracking is at least as bad as I thought. If you are having a relatively sedentary day, the watch thinks you are sleeping all day. So I’d now say the spO2 works well but the sleep tracking is really bad.

Great looking, no-nonsense fitness tracking watch that works great!
Great watch, looks fantastic and the sapphire glass is a great touch and makes it much clearer than run of the mill mineral glass. The setup was easy and the app is great for connecting with google fit and strava. The strap size is 20mm so is very easy find replacements if you want a change of look. The tracking data is the best ive seen from a watch, including various fitbits smart watches including the Samsung Galaxy Watch. The step dial is handy as it is a good indicator of how active you have been at a glance. Scrolling through the menu is simple, ive actually used the timer and stopwatch function too which i never do even on a standard digital watch! Although it is predominantly an analogue watch without a touch screen, it is very easy to find and start a workout and read the data, i prefer this to the all singing and dancing smart watches where half the features i dont use once the novelty has warn off. The sleep monitoring is brilliant and the sleep apnea and afib detection is great. The automatic workout detection works as much as is expected, it isnt infallable but does a good job. If it gets it wrong you can always change what it thinks it has detected later in the app anyway so it isnt a big deal. If you want a great looking, well built, no-nonsense timepiece with health tracking abilities that just works, this is for you.

So disappointed
Was full of hope for a great health smart watch, but so disappointed I wore it too work and it said I'd been on 3 bike rides!! Walked for 56 mins said I'd done 0.04 of a mile in that time! The app would not set up at first, watch on 30% battery so I charged it up, it seem to sort it out then When you switch to heart rate the majority of the time just get a white line going back and forth! The watch has said I've had again everyday I've worn it, but when I look up the graph the majority of the time just a blank graph saying no data! I got the watch because it should show afib episode now I don't know whether to believe it as so inaccurate else where. Sleep does not have rem included which is a surprise as that was on my old Fitbit years ago! I tried the support link in withins email explaining what was going on, only for it to bounce back saying the address was not recognised, that's their own link, not gone under have they!!!!! Now to find out how to return it, be my luck they've gone out of business ☹️

Nice looking, long battery, ecg questionable and not for the gym!
I bought this with a view to improving my health by tracking activity and the various metrics the device offered. On the whole I was happy, it looked nice, seemed accurate and the battery lasted a good 2 weeks before requiring a charge. I noticed a few niggles. One being the fitness level which showed I was below average, this I knew already and one of the reasons to buy it. No matter how much everyday excersise I did the score barely moved and then started going down after 6 months of use. Didn't see the point of that at all! The HR function is not very accurate. This was clear when I joined a gym and noticed their equipment gave a HR reading way higher than the watch. Cycling is one Withings admits isn't accurate. However I noticed it with all kinds of machines. Also because of the position of the single button i kept nudging it with the back of my hand when flexing on machines which made it pause the activity. This is clearly a design issue! In summary this is a nice looking watch with a traditional feel with a long battery life. If you want it for casual readings and not fussed about accuracy then it's a winner. If, like me, you go to the gym and want more accurate stats this won't do it at all! I bought a charge6 and in a better position.

The perfect hybrid smartwatch
I was surpised by the feel of quality and how great it looks. Everything about it seems to have been thoroughly thought through and well executed. It isn't too heavy and the strap, which at first feel I thought was a bit flimsy, is so comfortable and has numerous adjustment holes so that you can make it fit, whatever your wrist size. Easy to set up with the app, and navigation using the crown is simple and straight forward. The app shows you detailed information and statistics on your sleep, heartrate, oxygen levels and lots of other info regarding your activities which it records as you go about your day, but you can also perform an ECG or blood oxygen level reading on demand. I've only had it a day so I can't comment in the battery life, but I know 30 days will be a stretch given that I'm using most of the features. If you've been tempted by getting a smartwatch but prefer traditional watches then you need this, it's the perfect mix!

A nice, slightly enhanced dumb watch, but a hopeless smartwatch.
A curate’s egg of a watch. Plus side: Solidly built, nice looking. Oxygen and ecg seem sound. Negatives: Battery life claim of 30 days is a fantasy. Perhaps if you switched it off completely, left it off your wrist. Real world more like 4-10 days. Why do they make these outlandish claims? Activity tracking is useless. It often credits me with long cycle rides. I haven’t been on a bicycle for weeks. Tracking is swimming requires you to tell it and its sole function is as a stopwatch. Sleep tracking is poor. Twice in a week it’s told me I’ve had around 3 hours sleep - both nights it was more like 7. Makes you wonder what else it’s getting wrong. You can Manually set do not disturb so for example it doesn’t light up or vibrate at night. But you can’t set it to automatically not disturb you when you’re asleep or at certain set times. Why on earth. You can set only up to three alarms. I need four alarms each day. Why such a low limit? The software is a bit of a mess - some functions are on the watch, some on the app. The choice is arbitrary. You can select what functions appear on the watch, but they tend to double up when they decide to, leaving you scrolling through each option twice. The “health reports” are a joke. You select who it’s for -gp, cardiologist etc - then it prepares the same list of irrelevant things whoever you select, including steps per day, (inaccurate) sleep. But not ecg or oxygen level - the stuff they might actually be interested in. Notifications - I eventually got it to show text (sms) messages, but who texts these days? although they’re on the list and I’ve allowed them, it won’t pick up watts app messages or anything else. In summary, this is a nice, slightly enhanced dumb watch, but a hopeless smartwatch.
