I have always had a hard time drilling in the center of a pipe. This will give you a good solid mark in the center and you will know with confidence it is centered. The entire tool is built of metal and the marking pin is hard enough that it will mark almost any metal you can, or would want, to drill. I wanted this to help me in the shop and the tool I got far exceeds the expectations I had for it. I would definitely buy this again or even for someone else as it is a well-made quality tool.

I used it one time and the tip flattened on me instantly. DO NOT BUY. LOOKS COOL. VERY CHEAP QUALITY.

The protractor allowed one to mark holes at the exact top or at any angle up to 90 degrees either side of top dead center.The tool is made of aluminum with a well marked protractor dial and a level to set top dead center . The dial is marked in 2.5 degree increments against an index mark in the body. The index mark is just a groove, but can be read with good lighting. I will probably paint the index mark to make it easier to use.The punch part is 6" long with a flattened mushroom hear to more easily tap it with a hammer. The point has a roughly 30 degree bevel. I tried the tool on 6061 aluminum, black pipe, mild steel tubing and stainless tubing. All were adequately marked with a fairly light tap with a small hammer. I did not observe any damage to the point as supplied. If needed, the point can be sharpened, but care should be taken to keep the center of the point in the exact center of the punch or the accuracy of the tool will be compromised.Remember, this tool is for putting a mark on the work, not necessarily for creating a large divot in the work. If one needs a deeper divot for drilling purposes, use a proper hardened center punch.This is a very handy tool, although something that may not be used every day. For the price, you can't go wrong.

This is a handy tool to have around for when you need it. It is straightforward to use and is durable enough if you're smart enough to not abuse it.

Finding the center of a pipe seems like a no brainer until you are attaching different fittings to it. Not so much finding center as keeping relationship of fittings to each other. This is when this comes in handy. Easy to mark layout with the adjustable center shaft.

The fit and finish are good for the price. Leaves a good punch mark. It is great for a diyer or beginner that does not want to spent over 100 dollars for one of the big manufacturers.

This is a high quality, well built tool of steel. The protractor markings are engraved and highlighted with white paint. Although this is primarily a pipefitting and plumbing tool, it will be useful in any circumstance where center finding or sloping is necessary. 5 stars.
