Formed plastic. Drain holes in bottom.
These planters are made of thick formed plastic. Its very strong. They do have drai. Holes made into the bottom. There's no catch tray, so they will drain onto whatever is underneath them. They have a pretty small capacity and would be suitable for strawberries, greens or small ornamental flowers. The ad seemed to me like it was showing that these easily hooked together and hung. The back pieces seem like they're made to do that, but It was like the plastic was out of shape or off just a little. I wasn't able to get them together like that. They do have built in screw holes for separate hanging.

Product’s imperfections make them impossible to snap together.
They were way too much trouble to put together. The heat warped, meaning none of them lined up to snap into place. After messing with the first two for 30 minutes I gave up and will be returning.

Not big enough to hold much
I did read the dimensions before ordering these, so I knew what size they would be, but the design is such that even when hanging upright on the wall there is a bit of unusable space in the back of the container - since the front lip is lower, it restricts how deep you can plant stuff in the thing when it is mounted on a fence (as mine were) or wall. They are pretty narrow, too - I imagine this is in order to limit the weight of stuff you could put in it, so that the strain of holding up said weight doesn't overcome the plastic holes where you put the screws to hold it up... I can imagine it splitting there and falling off the wall, if subjected to too much weight. We put spring onions in ours, so they don't weigh much and we're constantly cutting off the plant growth. So it suits our purpose. But if you are envisioning putting a bunch of flowering plants in there, or if you intend to grow anything with some weight to it, these are not the right choice. The screw holes would need to be reinforced with washers or something to support weight.
