What could have been...
After years of collecting DVDs... then switching over my collection to Blu-rays... and now to 4K... I finally made the leap to "digitize" my movie collection. I did not want to do any conversion. I wanted my movies to be in their pristine m2ts format with all the bells and whistles intact. The Zappiti and Nvidia Shield were the two front runners based on a day of googling.Eventually, I went with the Zappiti because of the stellar reviews from videophiles and the Duo's two SATA hubs. There is a 1/5 star review here on Amazon because the person did not know how to properly format a HDD. There was also one person who complained about forced subtitles on certain movies not showing up. Other than that, the player seemed to be "the one."I ordered both the Zappiti Duo and the Zappiti Mini. They both have the same hard ware so consider this as a review for both. The only difference is that the Duo is much larger because it can house two 3.5" HDDs for a maximum capacity of 16TBs. The Duo would serve as my server for the Mini to piggyback off of for bedroom movie watching. Once I got the Zappiti player, I placed some Blu-ray movies on my HDD to make sure everything was formatted properly. The HDD bays are exactly that... bays... so the entire installation is tool-free. In and out simplicity. After signing up which took about 10 minutes in total... and then selecting my local drive... BAZAM! There were my first "collection" of movies automatically detected by Zappiti! With cover art, background, and trailer all available! What sorcery was this! Awesome!!!The interface was glorious! It was my own personal Netflix! I test played a few of the movies here and there... WOW! IT is true what they say... this thing rivals that of Oppo!!!Super excited, off I went spending the next week and a half digitizing my entire library. It was absolutely wonderful to see my "collection" in such a way on the Zappiti Media Center...After about 60% of my collection (13TBs worth of movies) were finished, I decided I needed to take a break and actually watch some movies!!! This is where it starts to go downhill.1. If subtitles are available, they will ALWAYS be on. You have to manually shut them off.2. A few seconds after a movie starts, the screen will "black out" for 2-3 seconds as it switches to 4K 24Hz.3. 13TBs worth of movies is taxing. The player has to go through an identification process before every start. It takes about 2 minutes for my entire movie library to finish being identified. Those 3 things are not deal breakers. I would have still given this unit 4/5 starts at minimum because I feel like those problems are so minor. Turning off subtitles takes 2 seconds with the remote. Auto switching to 24Hz always creates that short little black out even on my PS4, missing 2 seconds of studio logos is not a problem. And I can go grab a snack for the 2-3 minutes while it is loading up my library. These are the two flaws which are deal breakers and why I made the decision to return this player...1. Every other time I turned on the player... it would be unable to read the movies. It would just tell me that the movies are not in their location. Only a restart would detect the movies again.2. This one was the biggest one and why this player is broken... m2ts files from 4K HDR movies WILL STUTTER... Sometimes it will occur every 15 minutes... other times it will occur in 3 second spans for 20 seconds... but guaranteed it will happen every 15 minutes minimum. After doing a quick google... it isn't until page 29 of the AVS Forum thread that this issue is mentioned. This is apparently a problem that has been around since the player was released. It continues to be a problem as of March 2018. It is not as widely reported because most people who digitize their movie library use MKV shells (which loses the original quality of the m2ts).Hence, this player had to go back. I really wanted to keep both players... but it is not worth it at its current state with those 2 jarring issues.

Macht was er soll in guter Qualität

Their interface sucks. The only two advantages over the Egreat is ...
Not very Impressed.I switched from an eGreat A10 to zappiti Duo 4k Hdr. First the thing looks very promising from it's description. I was not wow from the setup. Kind of complicated setup as compared to the eGreat. the internal HDD 3.5 slot doesn't seem to recognize my drive even when formatted Exfat which is the universal recognized format by all OS and boxes as well. The Egreat finds it real quick and scans them and automatically sorts them to their right folders. With the Zappiti, you have to scan Movies at the movies folder you created and TV shows as well. The only time my drive my recognized was when i used the two front usb 20.. The back also has 2 usb 2.0 and also 1 usb 3.0 and usb c. None of them worked with my external drives. Qwerty Keyboard remote doesn't work all the time. You have to use the original remote to do one function and use the Qwerty for another. Also unlike eGreat A10 where you have quick access to select audio source and resolution changes, this one has to take you through tons of settings to set them up. The music player can't go full screen. for over 5hours, i was trying to figure out how to set this up. couldn't even figure out which hard drive format for it to support my Hdd 3.5. Their interface sucks. The only two advantages over the Egreat is this supports up to 32tb of hard drive and also i was able to get a passthrough on Kodi to play Dts, & Dolby files. I had to download Archos media player to get the beautiful interface i love. Many features are hidden and thinking this one being made in France will be outstanding, the Egreat gave it a real match. And to make things worse, my favorite app PLUTO TV wasn't supported and i wonder how can this be. It doesn't give you an option to choose your audio source either from HDMI , Analog or Digital Spidf. I am giving it a day or two more and if i am not satisfied, i would have to return it. I will update later with photos and if any progress. But like i aforementioned, this thing is not easy to set up.UPDATE!!After reading online guidance and knowledge base recommendations by Zappiti, i find the player very complicated and i am willing to give up and stick with the eGreat A10 for now till i get something that can play passthrough via Kodi to play my files. Also, Zappiti have a pre-formatted drives they are selling and only those ones supports their play which sucks. It's a way to rip customers. Unlike the eGreat that suports any HDD drive, once formatted exFat.. I have finally made my mind and i am returning it and thanks to amazon. They stated on their booklet to learn the knowledge Base Zappiti to enable any user to be able to use the player. Which to me sounds very unreasonable. I am not going to take an exam and beside if things like this aren't easy to use, how could those without deep knowledge use such a complicated products. When I wrote my review on their site, they refused to publish it. They promise to give you something if you post a positive review for them. So if you check their reviews, all of them are 5 stars only.
