Gorgeous bread!
Absolutely gorgeous and delicious bread. I've been making my own sourdough for a few years and thought I would try out a few different starters and see if I noticed a difference. I've never used any starter that wasnt my own but I have brought starter from one house to another during a move and definitely noticed they were different. I ordered the starter and noticed that it would be a little while before it arrived and I had a short trip coming up so I ordered it right as I left. Low and behold, it arrived early and our cool spring weather hit one of those weird hot humid spells for 3 days and I was nervous that the starter may have gotten cooked in my mail box. I wanted to give it a go and see. The starter took about a week to wake up and when it did it was some of the most beautiful bubbly texture and gorgeous starter I've ever seen. I definitely plan to buy others to try and I have many different ideas I want to try now.

Sourdough starter
I’ve tried a few gluten-free sourdough starters in the past with disappointing results, but this Living Dough starter totally exceeded my expectations. It arrived active and bubbly, with clear instructions to get it going. Within a few days, I was baking the most delicious gluten-free sourdough bread—crusty on the outside, soft and airy inside! What really impressed me is how versatile it is. I’ve used it for pizza dough, waffles, and even pancakes, and everything has turned out amazing. It gives that authentic sourdough tang that’s so hard to find in gluten-free baking.I also love that it’s organic and made specifically for gluten-free flours it plays well with rice, sorghum, and oat flour blends. Perfect for anyone with gluten sensitivities who misses real sourdough flavor and texture. Highly recommend for beginners and experienced bakers alike!

Great starter and helpful instructions!
I am very pleased with the quality of this sourdough starter! I had previously attempted to make sourdough bread from dried starter with 'meh' results. I ordered the San Fransico variety. It arrived well packed, in a timely fashion and once fed, kicked in quckly so that 1 month later we are doing really well together. As a precaution, I split it into two batches which I use alternatively to make various breads, pancakes, crumpets, and rolls.I think what really made the difference was the clear, indepth instructions which came with the starter. It helped me understand what I had previously misunderstood and included important tips on specific ingredients. (Measure by weight not volume) Making soudough is such an odd process it pays to get expert advice!

Great Product
I tried several times to make a sourdough starter and failed! I saw a short on YouTube in which a young lady mentioned telling her sister to just buy (or be gifted) a starter. So I took her advice (that she gave her sister) and bought a starter. I purchased the Einkorn starter, since I use it in our low carb - Keto Friendly - flour mix.It worked perfectly! I feed it with Einkorn only and use with our low carb flour for bread. I haven't quite tweaked the low carb bread recipe, but the starter gives it that sourdough taste and goodness.Note: Our flour is about 1/4 Einkorn flour, so that is why the starter has difficulty making it rise. NOTHING is wrong with the starter...it is perfect. Gluten free breads do not make sourdough like those made with wheat flour. It won't happen. But, I love the bread we end up with and has roughly (depending on how you slice it) <6g carbs per slice.I would definitely recommend buying this starter!Thank you!

Great Starter
Highly recommend! I’ll admit I was skeptical as to whether the starter is really aged as advertised, but I have it a try since it is reasonably priced. I’m glad I did! I started feeding it and it was very active within three days. It has been extremely successful and has risen each and every thing I’ve made perfectly. And the taste… fantastic! It produces a VERY rich sourdough taste. So far I’ve made several loaves of white and whole wheat sourdough, English muffins, challah, and used the discard for pizza crust, pretzels, and pancakes. Two weeks in and I am extremely satisfied.

Smells like home
So far it is exactly as described. It's only day two but it had a nearly double rise after one day and smells just like the SF sourdough I miss after moving away. I haven't baked with it yet but so far it's exceeding expectations. Only one problem was that I didn't think I'd ever get the lid off. Even after twisting, running a knife around the edge and even using a jar opener tool I had to use a screwdriver and pry the lid off in pieces.

Eh.....
It arrived later than expected. It looked like it exploded but I managed to salvage a small amount out of the bottom of the plastic container. It's starter and it may be 75 years old but I don't find it any better than my own starter I make using einkorn flour. I would not recommend this personally, but the price is cheap and you really aren't wasting much if you just want to order it and see what it's like. I give it four stars because it arrived in bad condition. And it has made decent sourdough loaves.

Bubbly and sour
This is my first sourdough starter so I don’t have anything to compare it to, it arrived 5 days faster than expected and came with instructions to revive it.The starter was a liquidy paste that smelled very sour, the instructions were clear and I was able to wake ‘Franny’ up and use her to bake after three feedings. My first loaf is a wonderful pumpernickle that smells amazing.I would Absolutely buy from living dough again in the future if I need a different starter variety.
