Plugs into USB and lights up, car displays iPhone detected but then will say please reconnect and try again. CARLINKIT to Hdmi on a 2024 Ford Sync 4. Have tried different usb ports, deleting the device from the sync 4 and then adding again....no luck.

Add HDMI input to your Carplay system
The Carlinkit Carplay HDMI Adapter is the addition to my car's setup that I've been missing! It seemlessly integrates with my Car's Carplay system to add an HDMI input. This is the functionality I've been missing. I have a Ford Sync 3 system which doesn't have any other built-in way of inputting video and audio from external devices.Setup is incredibly easy—just plug and play. The adapter connects flawlessly to my system and works right out of the box. The video quality is outstanding, with no lag or distortion, making it perfect for watching videos on the car's display. One of the best features of this adapter is its versatility. It supports just about any devices that outputs HDMI. This flexibility makes it an ideal solution for anyone looking to enhance their car's multimedia capabilities. I'm using it with an Android TV box to have "TV" in the car. I keep the remote in the console cupholder area. The build quality is top-notch. It's small enough to connect and stay inside my console compartment. The compact size ensures it doesn't take up much space, and the connections are secure, preventing any interruptions or disconnections during use.

Doesn't work on Ford Lightning
This didn't work with my 2022 Ford Lightning. CarPlay would recognize the device but it would only display a green pixelated screen.

More advanced than my understanding
I recently received this "Carlinkit Stick Adapter - Upgrade Your Driving Experience with Original Carplay HDMI Adapter - Seamless Entertainment for Wired CarPlay Vehicles" and I was initially very, very confused about its function. I understood this device to be a wireless CarPlay adapter which would also enable HDMI (or more specifically, video-streaming) functions. I have since learned that my understanding was actually MISS understanding and she cleared things up once she learned how terribly wrong I was. This device, from what I have come to understand (which may be inaccurate because sometimes I am unsuccessful in my straw-grasping capabilities) is a way to allow your iPhone/Android to function with screen mirroring. Basically, it will display on the screen whatever the paired device is broadcasting. So it's a tool for those with a need for video streaming capability - like, say, for people who have a separate display for passengers in the back. With this device videos/movies could be streamed to the car's back-seat display.Sadly, that's not at all what I originally understood and I don't think I have a purpose for it. I own no vehicles with a secondary display, and there's just no reason I'll ever want videos playing on the display on my dashboard. On the other hand, I'd think this could be used for other purposes where screen mirroring is desired but not available as a built-in function. I have an older TV in a guest room that has no smart functions, nor any networking capabilities, at all. Yeah, it's pretty old. The TV does have HDMI ports though, so I would think I could use this adapter to stream videos to that TV's display. I haven't tested it, but in theory it seems possible. I just need to get a lighting-to-HDMI adapter (I think) so I can test it out from my outdated iPhone 11.I don't regret ordering this item, but I sure wish I had a better understanding of the technology. Product descriptions would make a lot more sense if I understood the terminology better, right?

Not working
The media could not be loaded. I don’t know if I received a lemon, but this thing is mostly not working. I unboxed it, went to my car, I have 4 usable ports (2x USB-C and 2x USB-A). I plugged it in using a USB-A port, video feed came on, but I was unable to select settings as it just turned off, which I tried many times. I simply could not access anything on main screen selection, so then I decided to connect my iPhone 16 Pro Max via USB-C to, and it worked, but the sound when playing movies/videos was very distorted on my right side. I tried to see if disconnecting it and connecting it would fix sound issue as I don’t have that problem with anything else, but unfortunately same issue with second attempt, but then it self turned off and now I can’t connect it anymore and just shows connected but nothing really showing. The few seconds that it worked the sound did not have any lag, just a very loud distorted sound. I don’t know if my unit is defective or it’s just a bad product overall.

Works Great
This HDMI Carplay adapter works great for me. I use it at carshowes to play videos on my custom aftermarket android radio. Works great for my use.

Adapter Agony
The Carlinkit stick adapter was a letdown from the start. Despite the hype about upgrading my CarPlay experience, it didn’t work as promised—my car still doesn’t recognize it, and I’m stuck with the same old wired connection. The setup was frustratingly complicated, with vague instructions that left me guessing at every step. The supposed benefits, like seamless entertainment and easy integration, were nowhere to be found. I tried troubleshooting and reinstalling, but nothing seemed to get it working. Overall, this adapter turned out to be more of a hassle than a help, failing to deliver on its promises and leaving me with a more complicated setup than before.
