These came in quickly and well packaged but they are exactly what they claim, a window unit! Meaning a two people who want to communicate need to be on opposite sides or a barrier for it to work… like visiting someone in a max security prison or a parking lot attendant in the winter? I just can’t think of what regular person would need this. Not me! I thought it worked like an intercom so I could put one in my kid’s play room and call him down to dinner without hiking up there. This was difficult to set up and wasn’t as clear as I had hoped.

I use this to facilitate communication between upstairs and downstairs at home, since the stairwell is pretty well out of the way. It doesn't pick up a lot unless the receiving unit is close to a speaker, but it does send sound from my location well. The option to allow or disallow sound to come back to the parent unit is a big plus. Now I just need to figure out a longer cord solution so I can put this closer to ground level for the kids to speak into easier.

Item received as advertised. It appears to be a nice set. We wanted it for communicating upstairs / downstairs (like saying "hey, dinner's ready"). We have not figured out to install it that way yet but I believe it is possiblem due to other reviews I have read. I will update when we use it.

I got these speakers for a different use, but realized they were perfect for a special purpose. Without going into what that purpose is, other than to say one end sits just inside a teenager's room and the other is where I have ready access to it, I can tell you it works well . The four stars are because the connecting cord is extremely short and limits the distance between speaker placement.I can see how well these would work in an actual service window situation. So, they are a really good price for what you get.
