No. You specifically need the 1.4 lead by Faber Castell. I tried using Pentels 1.3 lead and it did not work.

Q: Does this E-Motion pen weigh 6.3 ounces (178gm), or is that weight the shipping weight, including packaging? It sounds high for just a pen.

It's heavy because the barrel and cap are made of stainless steel.

A bit short. Good thickness makes grip/feel very good. Had to get used to the length and it sometimes slightly slips when gripping/writing. Overall good mechanical pencil. The mechanism to move lead in and out very precise. This won't help, but I think the size of YOUR hand will determine the overall feel.
