Good Value and Taste
I am on a weight loss plan and I started taking this product after discussing it with my doctor. I have a hard time historically of taking pills and one less pill I have to take, is very convenient in a gummy that has flavor. It isn’t too hard or chewy. I appreciate that it’s not some vague berry flavor, which is common amongst a lot of manufacturers.

Zinc gummies
The gummies arrived as expected. The bottle is packaged nicely and in good shape. The taste is pleasant. The only thing is that perhaps the weather was hot when it arrived and was under the sun for a day, some of the gummies were stuck together. Not the end of the world, just takes a bit more effort splitting them apart. Overall, I’d definitely purchase these again.

All about zinc...
This product Health Nutrition (HN) zinc comes in the form of zinc citrate. Zinc citrate is water soluble. The absorption rate for zinc citrate is roughly 60%. Each HN gummy has 25mg of zinc but you can only absorb 60% of that. This means that the max absorption per gummy is roughly 15mg of zinc. For max absorption, take zinc citrate on an empty stomach with water. If upset stomach or nausea occurs, taking zinc with food should alleviate the problem. The sugar content in gummy vitamins is high because zinc has a strong metalic taste. Without added sugar, chewable zinc would be much less palatable. This HN zinc supplement tastes "better" than others I have tried likely due to the higher sugar content. If you look at reviews for other products, pretty much all chewable zinc supplements taste pretty bad. So don't buy any of these products expecting them to necessarily taste good. I don't eat a diet high in zinc. The effects of taking a zinc supplement are very noticeable for me within the first week. In my opinion, a 25mg zinc supplement is more than enough for most people. There is probably no need for the average person to double the dosage especially if your plan is to take zinc everyday. NOTE: Taking a high dose zinc supplement can result in a copper difficiency over time. The same is not true for a diet high in zinc. Ideal ratio of zinc to copper for most people is 8:1 - 12:1. If you limit yourself to a 25mg zinc supplement per day you likely will not have to worry about creating a copper imbalance. Regardless, if you are going to be taking a zinc supplement longterm it would be a good idea to up your intake of copper-rich foods. Some of the best sources of copper are nuts and beans. Sunflower seeds are cheap and very high in that mineral. How much zinc is actually in my supplement? This question comes up a lot because of the different weights of zinc citrate, zinc gluconate, zinc acetate etc. All anyone needs to know is that the number written on the bottle is the amount of elemental zinc which is what the rda is based off. The recommended daily amount (rda) of zinc for men is 11mg, and the max upper limit is 40mg... Why are these supplements sold in 50mg servings, isn't that dangerous? People with medical conditions have lower absorption rates than the rest of the population. Elderly get less from supplements. Also obesity lowers zinc absorption. Athletes and anyone that exercises regularly will have a higher need for zinc. There are many other factors that can come into play as well so the rda of 11 isn't as cut and dry as it may seem. It's worth pointing out that rda's are the amount of a vitamin or mineral needed to prevent deficiency not the amount for optimal health. Even if you were to take 50mg a day, at a max absorption rate of 60%, you would only be getting around 30mg of zinc per day from that supplement.
