Good but unfinished
It's a good instrument. The sound is loud and with water you have a variety of pitches. It came in an unfinished state though, the wood needed a coat of something. I used briwax. There was also still measurement markings on the shell I had to sand off. Also the jingles had sharp edges which was abit naughty. Easy enough to file though.

Good for the money
Kanjira players often have several drums on hand in various states of humidity - and now I know why. When dry the drum is quite high pitched, but wipe a little bit of water onto the skin and the pitch drops very nicely. Then it goes back up again. To be expected from a natural product. When its just right, the sound is good - nice deep bass, very easy to modulate, good slap sound

Quality of item received
The kanjira that was received the main art was not even firm and definitely not as per expectation. The skin is very loose and the sound is definitely not the right one when played.

Mal acabado.
