Looks and sounds great, too small to actually move real dirt around.
The media could not be loaded. This is a small RC toy excavator. The controller takes 2x AA batteries (user supplied) and the excavator runs off of a single 18650 cell (two are provided in the box, with a USB recharging cable, so you can charge one while using the other, although it takes several hours to re-charge).The remote has controls to move the treads forward/backwards, with tank skid steering. Top buttons allow you to "spin" the excavator body left and right independently from the tank treads. You can also command the excavator arm to make a "digging" motion (or reverse it....) There is only one cycle of the arm motion, so don't expect to be able to control each linkage independently, but if you are on top of very soft dirt, you can pick up a bucket full, and by carefully stopping and starting the "cycle" at the right points, transfer the bucket to somewhere else. [BUT, it must be VERY soft dirt/sand....I had to till my beach sand to make it soft enough to pick up.]Other controls allow you to turn on/off the sound effects (I was impressed with the sound effects, it does a good job of sounding like an excavator powering around, with back up warning beeps tied to the reverse direction, motor start up and shut down noises, etc....) and the cab lights. The coolest feature is the "smoke stack" which is really just an ultrasonic humidifier that you have to fill up with water. When you turn it on, it really does look like the engine on the back is throwing up a stream of smoke. The small blade in the front of the excavator can be pushed down (manually) to mostly run across the ground, or pushed back up out of the way. If you have very soft dirt, you can push it for a (little) way before it builds up enough so that the tracks just skid and you are stopped by the small hill of dirt you are pushing in front of you.The body looks very nice, with a full cab and operator and lots of details. In short, it drives around nicely, looks and sounds nice, but is almost 95% ineffective at actually moving dirt around.I feel it is a good value as long as you are not looking to actually play by effectively moving dirt around.

Perfect realistic gift for any young excavator fan.
I got the remote-control excavator toy for our grandson, who is turning 6 this year. He has always been interested by heavy equipment, ever since we took him to his first mining expo when he was 2 years old. We know he'll greatly enjoy it because we've tested it ourselves! The excavator's remarkable degree of realism, which includes a robust metal shovel, realistic sounds and lighting, and even spray elements that resemble steam or exhaust, makes the interaction feel genuine. My husband was happy with how easy it is to use the remote control—especially for younger kids who are accustomed to using them—after he, initially, couldn't resist giving it a try. It moves smoothly and easily clears small dirt and rock piles. We know our grandson will spend many hours playing imaginatively with our perfect outside setup. Given its realistic appearance and exciting features, it's the perfect gift for any kid who is obsessed with excavators. We're eager to watch his reaction on his special day! I highly recommend this RC excavator.

Realistic RC excavator
Do I need toys as an adult, no. Do I love cool new toys as an adult, absolutely. I work in the construction field so I’ve always loved model construction equipment. I would have been in heaven if model toys of this sophistication were available when I was a kid. You’ll immediately notice that this excavator is pretty decent quality for the price. The pieces are all precision older and the fit and finish are pretty solid. What will really blow you away are all the functions from a track driven device like this, allowing the excavator to operate just like the real deal. The radio controller is pretty easy to get the hang of and the model moves forward, back, right, left, swivel, and digs/unloads on command. The ability to add the sounds, lights, and “smoke exhaust” are really just the icing on the cake. The rechargeable batteries mean you can play for hours without breaking the bank on disposable batteries. The only critique I can give is the battery compartment door which is awkward placed under the cab and between the tracks. It also has an annoying screw to hold the door in place which is unnecessarily cumbersome to deal with. If you want to actually dig, keep,in mind this device is small and it’ll need to be something very easy like playboy sand or maybe aquarium gravel. But for a modern RC toy, this excavator is pretty awesome and will bring you and any kids many hours of enjoyment.

Great RC Excavator
This is a great excavator with excellent build quality. It drives like any other RC vehicle that drives on chain tracks. It is easy to operate and has all the functions of a real excavator. The engine sounds and the smoke effect using water vapor created by an ultrasonic atomizer is great additions to scale realism. It uses a single 18650 battery and comes with a spare so that you can charge one while playing with the other. Ona single charge it gives around 25 - 30 minutes play time. Perfect gift for ages 5 and up. Highly recommended.
