It is a traditional glow-in-the-dark, that is activated by being exposed to light (not black light / uv light).

Q: In a lit environment (like daytime), will the ink show up well on dark fabric? Or is this mainly for use on light fabrics?

I dont think it would, it's fairly thick fabric screenprinting ink

Q: How long does a jar last?

It depends on how much you use it. I had a white one I used for 20 shirts and I still have most of the jar. I can still use it and that was a few years ago.
