Excellent Tool to understand & learn your natural approach to learning
Initially I purchased the book about 2 months ago and briefly browsed through it- because I was focused on doing my other coursework.Recently, I attended a workshop in New York City where the author, Carla Hannaford accompanied by her muscially talented husband, Mr. Ahti, presented a workshop where this material was one of the topics discussed. In the workshop also book, Ms. Hannaford talked about how these dominance profiles can help us better understand how teachers and students naturally learn. A comparison was also discussed on how the school system in the US has designed its learning processes to accommodate certain learning styles. This has meant that other people who are of different learning styles--are often labeled unfavorably..the book goes more into detail. The book also explains step by step how to determine your own and others learning dominance profiles, gives descriptions of each, and suggestions on how to help yourself or others during times of stress also how to compensate. For example, with my profile, when I am stressed, I am limited with hearing, seeing & talking..but I move. So when I am stressed I do not talk and require movement. With learning, I am a kinestetic learner..which means a combination of hearing (lecture), pictures (visuals) and doing (applying through movement) what I am learning. An example of what I learned I can do to improve my learning is to write lists of what I need to do..also sit towards the back of the room where I can move without disturbing the others in the class. These profiles can also be used in families or between couples to better understand each others' learning and communication styles and how to help the other person during time of stress. In the workshop, I learned what my natural approach to learning is as well as what happens to that approach when I am under stress. This helped me accept and understand how I learn and what I can do to help myself going forward--both when learning and not under stress as well as functioning when I am stressed. I also worked with a partner in the workshop and by my understanding her profile, I was more patient and compassionate because I understood her needs for learning & communicating.I would recommend this book especially to those who work in the school systems, educators, parents, healers, sports coaches and those who truly want to understand the people in their lives from a more compassionate perspective- based on their natural learning style.

Worth the time
This was a really interesting read. This book focuses on how kids learn and our brains work but the interesting thing was that almost all of this still applies to adults. This is a really good resource for anybody who has kids whether they have learning disabilities, or you just want to work to optimize their learning. Probably the best part where the physical activities outlined in the book that helped to identify how each of us learn. They were fun to try out both on kids and other adults and we found them to be very consistent.

Great Insight
This book offers some great insight into how we learn. It really helped my husband understand how to talk with each of our children. It was also helpful helping teachers work with their students. I only wish there were more concrete examples of how to reach each brain type!

good information
This book is a manual for identifying how you and those around you use their brains. This book is directed more toward educators and people who work with differently-abled individuals. As a home schooling parent this book has helped me identify how each of my children learn. This allows me to teach them in a manner that presents the information in a manner that is easier for them to understand and process, alleviating the frustration of not comprehending. The book gives you insight (and practical application)into how to make the brain hemispheres work together to accomplish a task or goal. The importance of this comes to light when working with children who are dealing with comprehension issues in reading or who are frustrated by language arts. There are methods given in the book for teaching around mental roadblocks and enhancing brain integration. Great information.

Carla is way ahead of her time.
Even in 2021 the principles and insights of this book are revolutionary and would simply change the world. The main stream doesn't have their act together, but you can. Do yourself and your kids a favor and get this book and embody every word or not it's your choice.

Very grateful
I am so, because Carla Hannaford opened a new door for me, with this work. It is the first of its kind I read, and it gives stability to many fragmented theories I had started to map following my personal curiosity. Not only that, of course, but much more substantiated insights helped me and will help me trace profiles and broaden my understanding of how interestingly varied we are as a people. I will read more from this dedicated, open minded and precious teacher. A suggestion: look into books about the thymus gland and integrate the two realities for an amazing experience. Carla mentions John Diamond, whom I coincidentally read right before this book and I warmly recommend.

Libro eccezionale. Dovrebbe entrare in ogni scuola.
