Best of the mid range - so far
I've been sipping my way through a number of mid range Bourbons: Wild Turkey, Wild Turkey 101, Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester. They are all very enjoyable and each have their subtle flavour differences. Woodford Reserve used to be my favourite, just, but I have to say that Four Roses Small Batch has usurped them all. It is the smoothest of that list and even at 45% does not burn the palate, yet it still retains all of the fine charred oak flavours that come through with these Bourbons. Little wonder so many Scottish distilleries choose Bourbon barrels to mature their whiskies. I would definitely buy again - and if reduced from the £30 price paid, even better.

A Great Bourbon Whiskey
I like Whisky, all types and I enjoy a Bourbon from time to time. I have enjoyed the four roses brand for a few years and have the small batch on my subscribe and save order. This was the first time I have tried the Single Barrel and I was very pleased with the purchase. Higher ABV provides a little more umph flavour is rich and sweet an long lasting. Certainly compares very well with some very high priced ultra premium Bourbons. Well worth a try, cute little bottle too

Way better options for the price
I'm a big fan of whisky and bourbon. I've developed a taste for it over the last decade or so and I'm discriminating.I've read good things about Four Roses.Bourbon is typically slightly sweeter and often smoother than whisky. Not in this case it isn't. This is not Woodford Reserve. There is a kind of metallic/chemical taste at the front which is not that pleasant, but it has a smooth finish. It does have a sweetness to it, but the chemical/metallic taste is always there.By comparison you can get something like Tamnvavulin for a similar price and it's so much better. Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve is better and Jura Rum cask are bothmuch better, and frequently on offer for a couple of pounds more. It's worth it.Lidl's Ben Bracken Speyside at £17 a bottle is better. Most Irish Whiskey is better.Four Roses isn't bad, it's just easily beatable at any price point - even at an Amazon discount of just over £20.In fact I've just bought a bottle of Tequila from Lidl for £8 that is better. If you haven't had 'sipping Tequila' you are missing out.Four Roses is okay, but it's really easy to do better for the money.
