I have used these balls for many years now and have found them to be very good. They do what it says on the box.

Do not contain as many washing contents as those I have used before. Seem very good. I dont know their lifespan yet.

I've been interested in these for a while, so when i saw they were available for a reduced rate through amz reviews (vipon), I jumped at the chance. They came promptly and in good condition. They smell very much like petrol, which wasn't appealing. I used them in a few loads without any extra detergent, and a few loads with a half dose of my usual detergent (every time at 30 degrees as I always do, always on the same long washing cycle). I persevered for a while, but the washing didn't get any cleaner each time, the dirt just got spread around everything equally. The washing also came out stinking of petrol, the same as the washing balls do. So I gave up, and today I did my washing without the washing balls, and a normal dose of washing liquid. It dawned on me as I hung it out this afternoon, the washing balls are a cunning way of selling rubbish for a lot of money! I also noticed that one of the petrol scented little 'beads' inside the ball had got it's self lodged in the gaps of the washing ball, suggesting that maybe they could make their way out and ruin the internal workings of my washing machine. Save your money and the environment, don't buy these!!

Still don't understand how they actually work but they do. Good value for money and arrived promptly.
