OtterBox iPhone 16 Pro Max Defender Series Case - Black (Single Unit Ships in polybag)

Very protective easy to install protects the phone well very good value, decent in looks clarity the you would have to try just to destroy it, not water proof enough but the iPhone 16 is water resistant

As always, OtterBox never fails to disappoint me. I've been happily using OtterBox cases almost exclusively since 2011 and this case is another success. The grip is EXCELLENT and probably one of the best I've had for a phone. Even compared to previous Defender cases for older iPhones, I feel like this one fits snugly in my hand and I can easily use the phone one-handed with minimal to no slipping. They also improved the design of the Defender from previous cases, as it feels less bulky but still feels just as secure and safe for protecting the phone from drops. Overall, while it's not the cheapest case on the market, its easy use and great functionality make it a solid choice and worth every penny.

High quality, like all Otterbox products. This one did not include a holster. That’s fine with me as my previous holsters did not hold phone securely enough. I’ve accidentally tested the protection the case provides several times with my previous phones and I’ve NEVER damaged an Otterbox-protected phone. I won’t carry a new phone until it’s in an Otterbox case. I use a non-Otterbox belt mounted pouch that holds the case and phone securely.

I really like this phone case. It is very durable. Unfortunately I am very clumsy and drop my phone often. Luckily with this case my phone has been completely protected and has taken no damage. The texture of the case makes it easy to hold on to. One thing to note is the over the charging port, there is a cover. At first the cover got on my nerves to constantly open but I have found it to be very effective at keeping water and dirt out of the port. This was a very good purchase and great for the cost.

Defender series; excellent protection except for one glaring “error”; the area around the camera button. On one edge near the camera button, the iPhone is exposed with no protection at all. The opposite side has a nice, hard ridge. While the design allows for easy access to the camera button, it is concerning and reason the case doesn’t get 5 stars from me.One last, important point, the case has a nice “rough” non-slip finish that makes easy to hold on to.Suggestion for Ottobox: make a “Defender2” for the 16Pro; the Defender2 would be identical to the original but with the new camera button covered like the rest of the sides - rendering the new camera button unusable.

I always use the Otterbox brand for all of my cell phones. It’s very durable and strong and takes a beating. The only thing I’d suggest is to offer it in different colors like Barbie pink.

This is a put on-leave on case. If you have to remove the case to mount your phone on a gimbal or other mount it is probably not the case for you. The case has a clam hard plastic inner case that has a thin upper piece that snaps on to secure the phone. This piece will break regardless how careful you are with it. Also it is not the easiest case to put on and off. It is super thick and makes your phone footprint rather large. If you want rugged protection and you leave the case on this may be a case for you. If you are like me and need to remove the case, it may not be a good option.

I’ve been using the OtterBox Defender Series case for my iPhone 16 Pro Max, and overall, I’m really happy with it. It’s easy to hold thanks to the rugged, textured grip, which inspires confidence during day-to-day use. The multi-layer construction—featuring silicone, a rigid inner shell, and memory-foam backing—provides excellent drop protection, meeting military-standard DROP+ benchmarks. It also keeps dust out of the port, which I appreciate.  That said, no case is perfect. Certain charging cables and accessories are tricky to use unless I remove the case entirely—a minor inconvenience. Also, I’ve noticed the flap that covers the charging port looks like it could start tearing after repeated use; others have shared this issue too. One reviewer noted that the flap “broke after three weeks” despite careful handling, and some mentioned that the flap “would not stay closed.”
