My boss was retiring so I bought her this. She thought it was very cute. It seemed high quality.

This mug and spoon set is super cute. The message is as beautiful as the images, and it's all so tranquil. My only real issue with this mug is how quickly and how much it retains heat. Immediately after pouring hot water into the mug, it was hot to the touch. The handle didn't absorb the heat, but the rest of the mug very much did...and it held onto it. After about half an hour of it sitting unbothered, it was still very hot. I gave it a little stir and then poured the hot water out. The spoon took about five minutes to cool down, while the mug took a good ten minutes to cool down afterward. I find this problematic because (1) it's a safety issue having a cup that gets/stays that hot for so long, in a household with small children/animals; and (2) if it absorbs cold the same way it absorbs heat, then it's a different kind of safety hazard to risk thermal shock and the mug shattering when I try to make a hot drink in the winter... It is a cute design, and the quality is nice. Just, that temperature retention is a concern for me.

When you think of it, every day represents the opportunity for new beginnings so this farewell gift will remain beautiful and relevant for years to come, bringing smile after smile as they remember your time together. The mug is beautiful, the finish is smooth and the spoon is a nice touch but the hole is puzzling. There's no hook in the package and you probably wouldn't use ribbon or string so I'm at a bit of a loss for that. It comes in a plain white box with a label and well protected so very giftable. The only reason I knocked off a star was the small handle. As you can see from the picture, I can squish all four fingers through but it's not comfortable. I wear a ladies size 8 glove so my hands aren't small but I usually don't have any trouble holding mugs with all four fingers in the handle comfortably.
