Works well enough for me as I've never used one before. Tried it in my house and picks up lighting cables in (stud) wall. screws in plasterboard walls etc.Bought it to use with a metal detector and it works pretty well. Never having used a pinpointer before nothing to compare it with. but it does do what it saysIt is inexpensive, waterproof, the battery it came with only lasted a couple of hours but the battery I put in has lasted a few hours and I'm still using it.I was using it yesterday and it worked well, I found Iron, aluminium, and copper, on the beach, Impressed

I bought this to search for my partner's ring, that had slipped off her finger, un-noticed, whilst she was planting up several pots she'd just bought. The detector worked perfectly and I found it in the fourth pot I tried (see picture). Excellent.

The media could not be loaded. This pinpoint metal detector arrived in a sturdy, branded cardboard box that also contains a PP9 9V battery, a nylon belt holster, a coiled plastic lanyard (that stretches to 120cm) and instructions.The end cap unscrews to insert the battery and it has a waterproof rubber seal. When the device is switched on the orange LED flashes for a couple of seconds while it self-calibrates and there is also a white LED to illuminate the detection area that can be switched off with a quick press of the button. A long press turns the device off.When in use and metal is detected there is a three bar LED that lights up, an audio beep and the unit vibrates (see video). Obviously, as this is a pinpoint detector the range is quite limited but that’s what you want with one of these. The bright orange colour means that it won’t easily be mislaid.I haven’t yet had a chance to use this out in the field but it has already come in handy to fine a pair of secateurs that were accidentally put into a leaf sack of hedge trimmings. We found the secateurs in seconds using this.My only criticism is that occasionally it won’t turn off with a long button press as it should but this is easily overcome by removing and replacing the battery.This is a well built, waterproof and useful device. It works as it should and at £21.99 it’s quite reasonably priced but because of the occasional problem switching it off it loses a star.

So, I'm new to metal detecting, and my metal detector does have a pinpointer function....but what I realised pretty quickly is that once you make a find and dig a hole, having to keep picking up the metal detector to determine the exact position of the find is a bit of a pain. With a handheld pinpointer you can kneel down and locate the object with ease. This pinpointer works, with a distance from pinpointer to object of about 20cm... It also can easily perform the role of finding dropped metalic objects and sensing electric wires etc behind plaster walls. So, I'm happy! Came with a battery and holster, coiled lanyard and good instructions.
