This is an incredibly insightful and helpful book for therapists and trauma survivors.
This is a very good book for therapist working with complex trauma and also for those who are adult survivors of childhood trauma. It has lots of practical exercise and suggestions to try out with the intention of helping people reclaim their body and heal from their trauma. It's a difficult read at times, so I'd suggest taking regular breaks and being attentive to your self-care whilst reading it.

very useful reading
Obviously the subject matter is difficult but, if you can stick with it, then this is a really useful book in places. It mainly focues on the stories of younger children and how they have dealt with their abuse whilst getting help as adults. The only downside is that there is not much mention of teenagers and the effects abuse can have on them. If you work with teenagers or were a teenage victim of abuse you may not feel that many aspects of this book are relevant to you. I would however recommend reading this as some of the chapters and guidelines for supporting others are very helpful.

an essential read for any survivor(&family/friends of surviors) of childhood sexual abuse
This book is an essential read for any survivor of childhood sexual abuse. For most of my life I have been confused as to why I am the way I am, this book has given great insight & explanation into the effects of childhood abuse on the child & as an adult & how to overcome the debilitating results of abuse. It supplies many examples of true real-life stories that you can relate to & sets homework in order for you to break down your own experiences & overcome them. This really is an exceptional a book that I have found to be extremely helpful & although it was extremely upsetting at times it is well worth sticking it out coz although it can feel too traumatic the end result can definitely be worth it! Breaking Free: Help for Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse
This is an excellent book and one I have bought many times to give to people who are have experienced abuse. It enables individuals to understand that they were not abused because there was something wrong with them, that it was not their fault and it also brings hope for their future. It is not difficult to read - I shall continue to offer it people in the hope that it does indeed help them 'Break Free'

Very helpful
I am a therapist and decided to read this book before I start recommending it to my clients. This is a very useful resource. I do want to warn readers who buy this book to help themselves. If you had a traumatic experience and find it difficult to come to terms with your past, it will help to have a therapist/counsellor to support you through reading this book as it brings a lot of negative memories and could cause difficulties in your present day copying. The book is very useful and helpful, but be aware you might need more help to deal with your trauma.

Buy it!!!!
This book changed my life. Simple. It made me understand why I am the way I am. It literally has everything a childhood sexual abuse survivor needs to 'break free.' The exercises were unbelievably helpful. I feel like I am a lot further in my healing journey right now. It helped me understand why my mum might have reacted the way she did and many other things. You probably can't get a better book than this for this particular topic. Buy it and don't rush through it. That is my advice. I have read through it once. I will definitely use it again. It gave me hope and made me see myself in a different light. Thank you to the people who were involved in writing this book. <3

Very very helpful
I purchased this book after looking at several books on Amazon. I am very pleased with selecting this one to read. When reading this book I realise I am not alone and the symptons and coping mechanisms I have used are the simliar or the same as other suffers. It has made me realise I am not a nut case, that I am sadly one of the many individuals in the world that has suffered from childhood sexual abuse. Sadly it is very common. If you need to purchase a book on childhood sexual abuse I really would recommend this one.Good luck!
