Amazing Stories: The Complete Second Season

At long last we're finally able to enjoy the second season of Amazing Stories on DVD. And we have the Land Down Under to thank for it. It's beyond me why the first season was released here in the United States ten years ago, but they never bothered to release season two. No matter now because it is available to make your Amazing Stories collection complete. And do not let the fact that this Australian release (coded as Region 4) prevent you from completing your collection. These DVDs will play fine on your U.S. DVD/BluRay device. I've had no problems playing them. I trusted the good words of others who had no problems playing this Region 4 collection, and although a tad apprehensive... I had no problems. The picture quality and sound is as good as the U.S. released offering of ten years ago. This second season release was extra special for me because during the second seasons initial run on NBC in 1986/87 I missed two episodes.... Blue Man Down starring Maxwell Gail, and Eternal Mind. I'd never seen those episodes. It took thirty years and Australia having the good sense to release season two, that I can say I've finally viewed all 45 episodes of Amazing Stories. The only negative with this release is the packaging design and printed info doesn't hold a candle to that of the first season release. But I didn't purchase this set because of packaging... only the content on the DVDs. If you loved Amazing Stories the first time around, you will love this collection.

Even though this multi award winning series was cancelled after just 2 seasons, many of us were big fans. Thanks to Amazon and our friends down under in Australia, we can finally own the complete season 2 of Amazing Stories. Universal Studios should have done this years ago here in the USA for the fans.Yes it says "Region 4" on the box which is for Australia, but they play perfectly in my American DVD player. Including full clean Dolby 2.0 stereo sound as well. Either Australia and America have the same DVD system, or the box is mislabeled and it is actually Region Free.My favorite Season 2 episodes are "Go To The Head Of The Class" which stars Christopher Lloyd as a dark over-strict school teacher, (which he plays to Shakespearean expertise). He will make you suffer when you meet "the masters". And of course "The Family Dog which was the only animated episode about the family dog who is starved for attention but is neglected, but he gets even. The Family Dog spawned a short lived TV series of its own and won Emmy Awards.I am a true fan of this series and wished it would return some day. Watching season 2 after many years of its absence, makes them almost seem like new again.So have no fear buying this "Down Under" copy of this great TV series. It will work fine in American (Region 1) DVD players.Thanks OZ.

Not really nothing new to write here unless you have never seen the series. This was a really fun show back in the 80's from the creative mind of Steven Spielberg. Unfortunately this series only lasted 2 seasons but each episode was like a short film.The second season was just as amazing as the first and has one of the best episodes ever, "The Family Dog" which I believe spun off into it's own short lived series.What is great about Amazing Stories is they were sort of opposite Twilight Zone in that most of them were positive endings. However there were some that were sad or not happy but it was a really good mix of imagination, creativity and who knows how it will end!I am glad to see the series coming back but on a streaming service so may wait for more DVD's in that case. But I hope they maintain the same story telling quality as the originals.

Nostalgia of my childhood, I enjoyed this series while in elementary school, a great mix of magic, sci-fi, and comedy that I can still appreciate some 30 years later. It is a little cheesy, sometimes very much so, but it is from the 80's and that was how it was. The case itself is lackluster especially when compared to the Season 1 case which is creative, but the quality of the DVD's is fine, they play without issues on xbox console, and the video & sound quality is good.I was very happy to finally find this available on DVD, been looking for a few years.

I grew up on Tales From the Darkside, Monsters, Friday the 13th the Series, Tales from the Crypt, Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, The Hitchhiker, Ray Bradbury and of Course Amazing Stories.Now Amazing Stories is hit & Miss Always star Studded with Great actors from the Time but some Tales are just weird or like really this passed back then but overall it was nice to revisit this series from when I was a kid !

A decent continuation of the first season. This one felt like the budget had been slashed some, and the stories seemed every so slightly dialed back, which I think is a real shame. Still, it's a decent enough show that I think owning the second season on DVD is worth the money I spent.And unlike the first season, I really felt compelled to keep watching further stories in the second season; i.e. I could binge watch a disk, whereas the stories on the first season set, for some reason, told me that enough was enough when one episode was finished.I also have to say that the stories in the second season feel a little more adult in content and presentation. They're not as "Spielbergian" as the first season. That is to say in the first season you got that real good Spielberg sappiness that is essentially his trademark. Taking a shot, a performance, a musical cue, all from other films, and underlining them in his projects. This set of season two DVDs doesn't have as much of that as the season one episodes (which were dripping with that kind of film making).A really good decent set of stories. I'm just sorry that there wasn't a third or fourth season, because Spielberg shows how much a master of commercial film that he is. It would be terrific to see more.Next life time I suppose.

I love this series. The original and the remake that only went the 5 episodes before going on hiatus.Years ago I bought season 1, then waited for season 2 to come out. It didn't. Luckily it came out in the U.K. on their PAL video system so I was able to recently grab this at a fair price. I have players that play any region. So being the PAL system wasn't an issue for me.I now have both seasons. If they'd just finish up the remake and put that out I'd be happy.Mind you hoping for that is like hoping for the powers that to be to finally issue seasons 1 & 2 of the recent Lost In Space series on dvd and blu-ray.Or for stalled series releases like First Wave, The Invisible Man, My Three Sons, and others to pick up. Or like waiting for a proper release of full uncut episodes of ALF, and the complete set of ALF Tales cartoons to come out.

Este producto que me vendieron en las especificaciones indica subtítulos en español, lo cual es mentira, incluso ni siquiera las trae en ingles. Un verdadero engaño. Lo peor es que ni siquiera puedo reclamar ahora porque tarde me di cuenta de esto y ya no estaba en fecha para hacer el reclamo.

Por fin lo editan . La calidad normal el audio es el verdadero y está completa y por el precio está muy bien .a ver si editan más allá del limite estaría bien.os recomiendo comprarla

My Favourite Episode in Season 2 is Episode 9 - `Thanksgiving`, starring David Carradine.`Thanksgiving` is a double edged sword, reminding us about the joys of `innocence` & that `Thankfulness` is much better than gratitude & greed.The title suggests the movie is all about the American tradition - `Thanksgiving` day.Thank You!
