UP HALF THE NIGHT
I’m a little groggy today, because I have been up for several nights in a row until 1:30am reading this new biography. Who knew that a book about a lady lawyer could be such a page turner. Casey has a flowing, comfortable style that captures you from the very beginning and I often found myself stopping to re-read a sentence or a paragraph just for the enjoyment of the way she can turn a phrase. Although the book is a biography, it reads like a novel, and I mean that as a compliment. Casey manages to build suspense so that when this small woman with a quiet voice finally climbs up the long steps into the United States Supreme Court to argue against Colorado’s momentous anti-gay Ammendment 2, I could feel my pulse pound. And I’m from Colorado so I knew how it was going to end! A great read.

Review of Appealing for Justice, written by Susan Berry Casey.
This book was a reflection of our early and later years of growing up in this country. It made me look back to those years and what I was doing and thinking at that time. Civil rights has always been an issue in the history of civilized people. The author celebrates the gains that were made in our recent past. This review was written by Jim Bouthiette.

a wonderful book!!
A thought meandering process takes place as you read this book. The laws have had to be changed to change the hearts and minds of many on what it is to be an "equal" American.only small minds in the 21st century practice prejudice...and i sadly suspect only in heaven will there ever be true love towards allbut maybe this story was another step up the ladder

Great book for all.
Susan Casey Barry captures the essence of what the practice of law is all about. From those magic years where class actions were allowed by legal aid lawyers to the incredible work done by Jeanne Dubofsky from trial to the Supreme Court, the author makes the case for Justice.

Page turner
How can a book about legal preparation leading up to a landmark decision of Supreme Court of the United States be a page turner? It is.

Must Read.
A steadily paced story with a clear storyline about an extraordinary woman who quietly and tenaciously made history for LGB people not just on Colorado but across our nation.
