Shadow Wings: The Darkest Drae, Book 2

Shadow Wings is a book where humor, sarcasm, romance and Fantasy blend beautifully
Blood Oath the Darkest Drae, #1 was amazing. Easily one of my favorite books. EVER. I was afraid that since I liked it so much, Shadow Wings wouldn’t be as good. I WAS WRONG. Shadow Wings managed to be even better. It left me Speechless and Blew my mind all at the same time.Shadow Wings is a book where humor, sarcasm, romance and Fantasy blend beautifully and create a story that’s hard to forget because it’s so damn entertaining. I said to myself: YOU are going to read this book slowly and enjoy every moment!! What actually happened: I could NOT put it down, therefore read it in four hours. *cries*This story is much more complex than the previous book. Ryn, Tyrrik and Dyter go on a mission that brings them many obstacles. It also takes them into dangerous situations that add so much action to the book. We’re introduced to so many new characters, from other kingdoms, with other cultures. I’m not even going to mention the sexy Phaetyn prince though. Cause he’s just too desperate. Not good. But, the book has a rich story that’s for sure. *And dragons* And for all of those who like romance. There’s a ton of it. The slow burning kind that makes you swoon.Ryn is finally going to become Drae. We get to witness her transformation into Drae in Shadow Wings. It’s amazing, and it’s something I was so looking forward to. Seeing Ryn being a badass Dragon just like Tyrrik *totally better in my opinion * was just amazeballs. Seeing her learn how to shift. How to tear people in two. How to fight the growing attraction to Tyrrik just amused me to no end. Of course, she did all of this with perfect sarcasm and stubbornness.Tyrrik has come a long way. This boy *I love him* is finally owning up that he wants Ryn. He wants to be with her. But it’s not going to be an easy path. He still has to make up for everything he did to Ryn and he still has to gain her trust back. It’s hard work. But he manages just fine, even though he’s ignored about a hundred times by Ryn… Tyrrik is also going to be a big ally to her. He’s going to help her and protect her, even if it means getting hurt in the process. Which he will, many times. Prepare your heart to see him wounded. *cries again*The Darkest Drae series is on the top 3 of my favorite books EVER. STOP everything you’re doing and please read them. It’s a perfect mix of action, fantasy, dragons, romance and comedy. Blood Oath was unbelievable. Shadow Wings was even better. Now, Black Crown is going to be even better I’m sure!

Yey for Drae!
This book picks up almost right where the last one left off. Ryn is now free and smarting from learning the truth about Tyrrick. I loved how the relationship between Ryn and Tyrrick evolves. I love that Ryn holds her own and doesn't just get over it in a day. There has to be open and honest discussions between the two of them and Ryn has to keep in mind the hell Tyrrick went through too and what it might have done to him. I wanted to smack her a few times when she wasn't yet ready to look at it from his perspective because she was still stuck on how she felt. Then again most 18 year olds struggle seeing the other side when they are hurting. My other favorite relationship in this book was seeing the father/daughter bond between Ryn and Dyter. It is great to see a book portray the importance of that relationship and not just the romance with a male.I so enjoyed seeing Ryn learn about being a Drae and what we learn of the Drae race. On the flip side, I wasn't so thrilled with the Phaetyn prince. I wanted everyone to leave Ryn and Tyrrick alone to explore their feelings and it was clear Kamoi wasn't on the same page as me. Ryn learns that no race or kingdom is a paradise in so long as the emperor is around. Ryn grows and makes her decisions and I cannot wait to see where the next book takes us.

Holy crap, that was good!!!!
I fell in love with this series within the first couple chapters of its first book. Thankfully, this one was already out so I was able to keep reading, and the Book God's shined upon me as the newest showed up on my kindle last night, how's that for timing!! This suffered from absolutely no middle book syndrome, it's actually just as good if not a bit better than the first. The world is bleak, scary and in need of its ruler having his ass whooped. I loved Ryns discovery and acceptance of all that was ( dont want to spoil anything) but the fact that it was not instant, and she struggled with everything endeared me more to her. I never can seem to find the right words when I really love a book, they seem to escape me. I really, really, really loved this, like, I'm picking it up every moment I can to have read it. When I can picture the story in my head like a movie playing out and want to shut my eyes in the tense and scary parts, that, for me, is why I read, and the fact I completely can lose myself within it's words and transport myself to be the main character. Bravo awesome authors, I'm off to read your new one and continue the adventure. I do hope the Emperor turns into a tasty snack!!!

“Nothing is more deceiving than the word should.”
I loved the continuation of this story and this world! Ryn and Tyrrick grow together and strengthen one another in this adventure leading to the downfall of the evil emperor. Ryn was still very immature and a little childish, but her evolution in this book made sense and helped me like her even more. This book had a lot of growth, which slowed down the story a bit, but it didn’t take away from the adventure and action packed story that was present. Ryn’s most quoted thought and phrase throughout the book was,, “I’d love to understand what’s going on.” And bringing her to knowledge wasn’t my favorite, but I enjoyed the world created more than the inconvenience of her ignorance. I can’t wait to see where we go from here!

These authors have created magic for us readers
Oh my did I love and enjoy this book as much as the first, actually I think I enjoyed it more!Ryn grows and develops in this book but is still her usual funny self. I love her as a character and her attitude to everything around her but she also has a heart of gold. Her inner monologues crack me up and she's no longer as naive as she once was, which in some ways is sad, but in the world she's in she needs to be clever and guarded.Yet again the world building is sublime. As I was reading I could clearly see each place described in my mind. This is one of those books where I really am transported into the boom itself and felt like I was experiencing, seeing and smelling everything the characters did.Now to Tyrrik, my dear, dear Tyrrik. Oh how my heart fell even more for him in this book, so much so that I'd quite happily push Ryn aside and take her place, except I respect Ryn. Tyrrik is a beacon of strength for Ryn and would do pretty much anything for her, even if she doesn't agree with it. Their relationship didn't have the best of starts, but in this book they get to know and understand each other better. This book would get a gazillion stars from me if I could give that many. I really loved reading it and enjoyed it so much. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series, and am also hoping that both of these authors don't just stop at writing three books together as they've created magic with these books which I'm addicted to.

Brilliant read
Wow words cannot describe how brilliant this book was. The story continues on from the first book after Ryn discovers her full heritage and who her father is but it doesn't end there. The storyline just draws you in so much. Tyrrik our Alpha Drae who is overprotective, overbearing and oh so sexy that you cant but help to love him is slowly driving our Heroine mad with his actions. But we also have Ryn our Drae/Phaetyn Female who is incredibly feisty and strong willed who won't take any of Tyrriks half truths and secrets, calling him out on his behaviour, but also creating an undeniable chemistry to spark. But Ryn doesn't only have Tyrrik to deal with but the entire realm who are under the thump of the Emperor..... and if that wasnt enough she also has to deal with a Phaetyn civil war, talking trees, a army of Drae, starvation and cannibalism on top of Ryn`s unhealthy obsession with hoarding Shiny Objects. There's lots going on in this book and I can't wait to read more.

Freaking Awesome!
This book did not disappoint. I loved it. Raye and Kelly have created a fantasy world that I did not want to leave. I love Ryn she is feisty, determined and God help you if you loss her off or hurt those she love's. Some real laugh out loud moments, in particular some of the scenes where she calls Tyrik some choice names. The relationship between Ryn and Tyrik was beautiful and I sometimes wanted to scream at her via my kindle to just accept him as her mate and jump his hot bones. Great book, had it all. Excited for the release of book three.

Brilliant, funny, gripping read....
Book 2 gets top marks. I love Ryn's character, sarcy and dry, fierce and beautiful, and her burgeoning Drae nature is a very satisfying - and frequently hilarious - character arc. I didn't dare hope this book would be as gripping as the first, but it was. I can't wait for Number 3, but inevitably - given I don't have a time machine - will in fact have to wait until its release in May. Highly recommended to fans of thrilling fantasy fiction with a dash of romance.
